I just started back to work after a lay off last week and my 10 month old DS is refusing to take the milk I've pumped for him. My DH and Mother have tried in a bottle, sippy cup and regular cup. They have tried the stuff I pumped the day before (so as fresh as possible). I had worked in the office 3 days a week from when he was 3 months to 4 months before I was laid off and he was fine with the bottle then. There have been the occasional nights out and he's been fine with the bottled stuff then as well. He's eating more food than he was last time we had a night out, but I'm worried it's not enough to make up for the lack of milk. Right before I leave in the morning I nurse as much as he'll eat. Then as soon as I get home he wants momma milk and he'll fill up, play a bit and then be back for more after approx~ 1 hr to fill up again and rinse/repeat until bed time. Then he'll wake up to eat all night long (we bed share, always have, and he helps himself).
I'm worried that he'll not take the pumped milk again. If that's the case, is the small amount he's eating (nibbles of fruit, partial cups of baby food, water, a handful of puffs while I'm at work) and the milk he gets when I am home going to be enough?
Re: Baby Pumped Breast Milk Boycott
I just asked my mother and she hadn't. I know my DH hadn't (he's skeeved out about tasting it so I know he wouldn't do it). They had tried various ones, starting with the oldest and then trying the newest so I don't think they would be bad.
If all we have are newborn nipples on the bottles would that cause a problem? If we got a faster flow nipple would that help?
