Still not walking

Okay, so I wasn't worried that LO wasn't walking yet, she has been scooting since about 10-11 months and seems very content with that.  I always thought that she would just scoot and then learn to walk.  She has started trying to pull herself up onto things, she only JUST figured out how to sit up on her own.  However, I think she's still going to be on the floor.  She just decided to crawl to my DH...What the heck kid??

So, whose LO is still NOT walking?

Re: Still not walking

  • H is not walking yet. She pulls up and cruises the furniture and does okay but she hasn't mastered it yet. She is a speed crawler though. I swear she goes from 0-60 in 2 seconds.

  • My LO is not walking, not standing, etc.  She will stand if I hold her hands/arms or if she's holding onto something, but she won't let go.  My family is full of late walkers so we are not concerned.

She started crawling at 10.5 months, sat up on her own at 6.5 months.  So she's been a little late with everything so far, but not outrageously late.

  • No walking, no standing, no apparent desire to do either. She just plain old doesn't seem interested. Though both DH and I were very late walkers so I am trying not to get concerned. I didn't walk until 19 months!
  • Thanks for your replies ladies.  I took the girls to the local library for a sing/dance function the other day and another mom asked me (don't know her and never saw her before in my life) if I had considered EI for her.  I thought it was kinda strange at first - but she did tell me that she had her daughter evaluated and they just started, I think she was just looking for someone to share something in common with.  However, I did ask my pedi about it at her 1 year appointment and she wasn't concerned at all.  (Because she had NOT rolled over but once or twice before 12 months and she was not getting to a sitting position on her own yet).  It was all new to me as DD#1 was walking by her 1st birthday, crawling around 7 months.  I can tell that DD#2 is kinda taking off in other areas though.  Her speach has really started to explode!  I just couldn't believe that she started crawling - I really didn't think that she would.

  • Normal range for walking is 9-18 months. Nick is just now starting to pull up on things, but he just started crawling at 12 months. EI probably wouldn't take her unless there was a huge motor delay unless there was other areas of concern. If you really wanted to have her evaluated I'm sure they would do it.
We have Nick in EI because he still wasn't crawling or pulling up etc at 10 months.

Timmy started scooting around 9-10 months and didn't walk until 16 months.

Encourage her to pull up on toys, side sit, and high kneel. Try to get her to stand with the least amount of support.

  • Mason started letting go and standing without holding on on Wednesday. On Thursday, he took his first steps. He has never crawled, just scooted.

Timmy was the same way he never crawled just scooted. .. He crawls now though
    Nick crawls and scoots interchangeably

  • Gabe is not walking yet.  He will be 16 months next week. The "normal" range for walking is between 8 and 18 months.  It is a HUGE range.
