Sleep with security blanket?

Sorry if this has been asked, but I have not been on in quite a while. Does anyone let LO sleep with a small, thin security blanket? DD is 5 months. She has been sleeping horribly at night - gets up at least every hour and has been for probably 2 months. During the day if she takes a nap but has her Aden & Anais thin swaddling blanket, she clinches on to it and passes out great. At night I don't give it to her because I'm obviously sleeping and can't keep a close eye on her. I don't feel comfortable giving her a big swadding blanket even though it's thin, but has anyone given their LO one of those small Aden & Anais security blankies or anything similar? When I look this up online, they say no blankets until 12 months old...dumb question...does that include the tiny security blankets? TIA!

  • Thad sleeps with a Carter's lovey/blanket in his bed. I try to go in before I fall asleep and move it away from him, but I'm not worried about it.

  • I tried giving DS a small square of blanket with a stuffed animal head attached (you know the ones), but I put him down for his nap and heard a very odd cry.  It was completely over his entire face. This was three weeks ago.  It'll be a long time before I'm comfortable allowing anything in the crib with him.

  • Yes. He sleeps with his a+a security blanket. He also sleeps with a regular muslin, but that just covers his legs and he doesn't touch it. He needs the security one to sleep - he rubs it all over his face and snuggles it.
  • I've been letting DS sleep with his taggy for a couple weeks now.  It's one of the small ones and he likes to rub it against his face as he's falling asleep.  He always throws his arms out when he's asleep and the taggy is never next to his face anymore when I check on him.

  • I was very adamant about moving DD's lovey away from her face at first.  I am getting more relaxed about it.  I still try to move it before I go to sleep.
  • My kid sleeps with a blanket, blanket. Not like a down comforter or anything, but a semi-thick gymboree blanket. He won't sleep without one, even if he is wearing a sleep sack. I'm not worried.

Long story short, I think your LO is fine.

  • Lo sleeps with a Regular baby size fleece blanket. He has for months. I try to keep it off his face but he likes to snuggle it. I just bought him a lovie too. He now sleeps with both. Flame away, but he sleeps great. And he doesn't fight sleep at all, he snuggles his blanket a minute and is out

No flames from me, do what works!  It just didn't work for us.
