We used a Graco Safeseat, not because we picked it but because my brother gave it to us. While shopping in baby boutiques after using the car seat for a while I would often look at other seats and I really liked our compared to some others that were out there.
It was really solid and well made, the canopy was nice and big and stayed in place, it was really easy to get DD in and out of the seat and do up or remove the harness. It worked well with our city select stroller. DD was really comfortable in the seat and would usually fall asleep as soon as she was strapped in. Graco's service was awesome. I needed to have a strap replaced and they sent me a brand new set of harness straps at no charge, and very quickly!
I didn't like the fabric in the seat we had, it was almost velvetty of something and DD sweat, a lot. If we had to drive a long distance DD would always be soaked when we got there, not because of a leaky diaper but because she was sweating. I am going to pick something with breathable fabric this time! Otherwise there was nothing I didn't like.
We have a Graco Snugride 30. I liked the look of Chicco carseats better, but this pattern was on clearance at Target for $60 so I snagged it for the price. It was fine, but our LO hated her infant seat. She wouldn't sleep in it if were were out somewhere and it got heavy quickly which is true for any infant seat. I think the convenience is great, especially for babies who will sleep.
We now have her in a Britax Boulevard and she is so much happier. I love it as well because it is sooooo much easier to snap her into and the straps and buckle area have padding so the straps do not dig into her as much as they did with her infant seat. Some infant seats may have padding on the straps, but ours did not.
We picked the Chicco Keyfit 30, because of the superb safety ratings. We also noticed the vast majority of our friends have them, and their reviews backed up what the safety ratings say. It's definitely one of the most popular out there right now.
We went with the Keyfit 30 over the Keyfit 22 in order to be able to use it longer with the higher weight limit...but our little guy is tall, so I'm guessing he'll outgrow it by length before well before he hits 30 pounds. The 22 would have been totally fine.
We have the Chicco Key Fit 30. We picked it because it fits in our stroller, it has excellent safety reviews, and the color scheme went with our stroller.
I love this car seat. It's easy to adjust the straps and it's very sturdy. I feel like DS is very safe in this seat. He also seems to be very comfortable in it!

We bought the Chicco Key Fit 30 Magic today. When we were in BRU and DH was very impressed with this car seat (felt higher quality than Graco) plus it has great reviews. I also like that it's unisex so we can use it for future children.
We have the Britax Chaperone and love it. It is a little larger in the base then some of the other ones because of the rebound bar, but the added safety feature is worth it to us. (You can google videos about the rebound bar in action). The sun shade is huge and works great, the straps haven't ever gotten twisted, it's super easy to adjust the straps, and it works perfect with the Britax B Ready stroller that we have. Some people have said they think the Chaperones are heavier than other ones, but I carry my 11lbs babies in them at the same time and I'm not a Superwoman! I would for sure reccommend going to the store and checking them out, no matter which one you are leaning towards. Most places let you take them out to your car and try them in your backseat to see how they fit.
We used the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio infant seat with our firs and will for our second. I loved it. It got great reviews and I felt like she was really safe in it. It was heavier than other seats, almost by 10 pounds but worked great for us.
