So we've been using the Snuza since birth and I haven't had any problems with it. We just stopped swaddling (I know, super late to the party) and now that she's in a sleep sack the Snuza keeps going off. It doesn't appear to be positioned incorrectly so I can't figure it out. I'm assuming the swaddle held it in place better? It has alarmed so many times now that I had to take it off because it's waking her up.
It must just be malfunctioning, right? I can't help but worry that it was actually alarming for a real reason.
Re: Snuza users come in!
My baby tends to kick her legs up and wiggle around while she?s sleeping. When she does this sometime it loosens her diaper and the Snuza comes off her skin or moves positions. This will set off the alarm. I haven?t been using it because of this reason.
This could definitely be it because she is wiggling all over the place now that she's not in her swaddle sack. Ugh, I loved using it and I hate to give it up! But it's supposed to provide peace of mind, not wake up my baby.
Once we stopped swaddling Jack (we had to, he started rolling to sleep on his tummy) we had to position the Snuza on his side because I didn't want him to be uncomfortable sleeping on it.
At the beginning we had some false alarms because sometimes the way he is on his side, or even just the movement was making it come loose. So I started taping it to his diaper with medical tape. I also make sure the diaper is snug. We still get the occasional false alarm but the tape works wonders. I'd also say that a onesie may help hold it in place.
When Madison was first born, I could not for the life of me get it to fit on the diaper and I would dress her in a long sleeve onesie and pants and clip the Snuza to her pants.
I wanted to start using sleepers when she got a bit bigger and when I could get it on her sleeper, I was getting so many alarms it was concerning. I do think it was because she is so active and kicking and would pop it up a bit. Eventutally we ended up using safety pins to pin it to the diaper. We are double diapering for her hips so that wasn't a problem because we could use the same diaper every night. But I wanted to be able to just pop it on for naps so we tried it again without clipping. We find now that we can clip it on and get it to stay but we are still using 2 diapers so it has something thicker to grab onto. I think we've had 2 false alarms in the last few months.
