If you ever get a new iDevice, check out a warranty through SquareTrade. The prices are very reasonable, and you can get a policy that includes accidental damage coverage (broken screen, water damage, etc.). We have one for our iPad and iTouch. I've already sent back the iTouch once when DS dropped it on the driveway and shattered the screen -- no deductible, and they replaced the screen and upgraded it somehow so that we got the front camera that we didn't have before.

My iPad screen got cracked too and I was able to get reimbursed through my credit cards purchase protection program since I purchased the iPad using the card. It's worth looking into. Also, sometimes it's coverd under your homeowners insurance.
