Does anyone else's kid plank themself out of the bumbo as soon as you try to sit them down in it? I just got the "repair kit" in the mail and I'm not really sure if it will help at all. I think maybe the bumbo is just a lost cause in our house until we can try again with the next LO.
Re: Question for Bumbo users
Yep, we just retired the Bumbo last week, it was getting really unsafe. I'd say we got about 2 months use out of it?! DS2 had been "side-planking" himself out of it. We didn't have the repair kit though. The Bumbo has such a limited life-span IMO. We used it for about 3 months with DS1.. he was better in it, he didn't plank out. Lucky I only paid $15 for it, used.
And we've started putting DS2 in the high chair (IKEA one, with padded insert) in the kitchen, instead of the Bumbo, so he can watch me cook or whatever.
DS planks himself out of anything he can. He tries to out of his bouncer, but can't when I trap him down really good. I just use it when I shower now. I think I'm going to have to start using the highchair like you starbound. I use his jumper to sit him in when I have to do something now, he doesn't always feel like jumping and playing. My nephew nver once tried to get out of his bumbo so I guess it just confirms again that every child is different in their likes. Man, babies make you spend a lot of money on things for them you thing they may like and they end up hating.
