Re: Naps (Poll)

  • We use to have a great schedule but our LO has thrown some monkey wrenches are way.

DH and I seem to struggle with naps lately with our LO. Seems like he just does not want to miss out on the action and perhaps the teething/growth spurts?

We try to do 2 but seems like it?s more of 1 nap but I did vote for 1-2.

  • He's in the toddler room at daycare now, which requires he be on one nap.  They nap/rest from 12-2:45 every day, so I try to maintain that when he's home with me too.  One nap/day has actually been awesome for his quality and duration of nap, and his nighttime sleep so I'm a fan.

  • We just started one nap last week. He started fighting his 2nd nap and when he did take a 2nd nap he was not tired at bedtime. The one nap a day is working better but sometimes he will fall asleep in the car on our way home from his DCP. So i'm not sure if he was completley ready but it's working for now!

  • DS was taking 2 2 hour naps a day, and then he turned 1.  And since then his naps have been terrible and completely unpredictable.  Some days he won't take any naps other days he'll take 2 2 hour naps, some days he'll take 1 2.5-3 hour nap.  It's been frustrating to get him back on some type of schedule routine so right now we are just going with the flow.  He's also not been sleeping well at night when he used to sleep 11-12 hours with no issues.  I'm guessing that he's hitting a growth spurt because I'm fairly certain he's done teething for a while (he's already got a mouthful including molars).

  • Eloise takes 1 nap while at daycare for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours during the week.  When she is home on the weekends we do 2 naps, each about an hour to an hour and a half.  I try to do the same nap times on the weekends consistently but it often depends on what we are out doing.

I've often try to be very consisten that she naps in her crib and no where else.  This has worked out pretty well.  Hope this helps!

  • We are down to one nap 90% of the time.  I'm struggling a little with two aspects of this:

    1.  She wants to nap a little (maybe an hour) earlier than would be ideal on a one nap schedule.  So she is sometimes awake for 6-7 hours between waking up from the nap and going to bed at night.  Getting out of the house in the morning and coming back for a nap around 1pm seems to help push back the nap, but frankly, I'm really slow in the morning and not good at getting us up and out before lunch.

    2.   She's not really hungry enough for a whole meal before she takes her nap.  She'll have a snack if I offer, but not a whole meal.  So she's starving when she wakes up and ends up eating lunch at 3pm.

One a good note, she is now STTN with a one nap schedule.  I know this may not last, especially since we're due for another round of teething, but I'm enjoying it while I can!

  • Depending on the length of the first nap and what time he gets up from it will determin if he has another nap or not.  If there is only one nap that nap we push his bed time up by a half hr.
