Going out to dinner?

When y'all go out to dinner either with friends or just with your own family (when bringing LO) do y'all go earlier to avoid LO being out late and being cranky and tired, or do you just go whenever?

My friends without kids always ask to go out to dinner and always want to go around 7 or 8. Well Madison goes to bed at 7 and there is no way I am going to deal with a cranky baby at a restaurant alone, while trying to eat, feed her, and catch up with friends. I just am tired of always being that woman who is like sorry we can't, or we can only go to dinner if it's around 5!

I guess I am just more thinking out loud and getting it out of my system more than thing!

Re: Going out to dinner?

  • We usually go early (5/5:30) to avoid the crowds so if LO starts acting up we don't disturb too many people.

  • We're lucky that our friends try to plan a little around what works best for our schedule, because they want to see J and not a crank-butt lol.

Could you maybe have them at your house instead of going out?

We go early. Otherwise we don't go.

We go if we can plan to be home by 6:30ish, or we decline. We usually plan on meeting for lunch because that works better for our schedule.

  • Last time we went out to dinner it was about 6ish, we ate and got home by 8, which was ok, she wasn't over tired at that point.

    I wouldn't go out at 7 or 8, that's just too late.

  • R is a night-owl, but he doesn't ride well in the car at night - he screams and cries the entire time if it's dark, so we can't stay out super late if we have R with us.  We usually go out to dinner about 6 or 7 if we go out, earlier than that on Saturday if we go out of town for dinner.

So there's this boy. He kinda stole my heart. He calls me "Mom"
