March 2012 Moms

anybody thinking about another yet???

i just went off bcp last weekend because i felt like it was making me crazy and DH and i had only had sex +/- 6 times since dd was born. but of course he wanted to do it on monday (4 days after my last pill) and then monday night and tuesday i was showing signs of ovulation.

if any of you have stopped BC yet, how long did it take for AF to come back?

we were definately not planning on "trying" for #2 for a while but since it took over a year to get #1 we figured we would "pull the goalie" and see what happens.

am i crazy for wanting another baby so soon?

Re: anybody thinking about another yet???

  • Everyone keeps telling me to have them right away. DH wants to have another right away...but I am really scared about having another c-section and going through recovery with two babies, especially since I still feel like my body is healing; that is the main reason why I want to wait until DS is almost 2yrs. I don't think you are crazy at all.

I got AF 7weeks PP and been on BC.

  • I didn't start on any kind of BC; we knew we wanted more as soon as was reasonably possible. I had two months of normal periods after DD started STTN, but she has stopped doing that, and I didn't have an August period (nope, not pregnant yet!).

I do NOT think you're crazy...but that's because I might be crazy too!

  • Well, as an only child myself, I'm nervous about having more than one at all!  We are going to try for at least one more, though, and I think that I'd rather have all of the sleepless nights, diapers, etc. over with in one big push rather than spreading it all out for several years.  We're waiting until Jane's 1 to try because of the problems I had with PTL and bedrest, but we do want them close together!

  • I'm thinking about it! But we don't feel ready just yet. I think we'll wait until DD is a year or so before TTC again :)

    Good luck to you though!

  • my Oby recomended getting them allout close together.. we aren't planning on going again... but if we were...  Kinda wierd because in the UK they highly recommend at least a year between babies to give your body time to recover.

  • If it works for you then you're not crazy! We are not trying again for a year (Next September we will try). Good luck trying!

  • No, you're not crazy!  If I can DH on board I'd like to start TTC after Christmas, that way the 2 of them will be fairly close.  I love that!  My sister and I were 18 months apart, and we're as close as ever. DH doesn't know if he's ready to be up all night again...lol :)

That is interesting.  There is research that shows that your folic acid reserves are not up to par until 2 years after delivery and having babies close together has a higher chance of autism.  Of course, research shows a lot of stuff so you've gotta do what is right for your body.

I'm not really on board with having another after all of the unexpected complications, but DH is ready to start again.  We will wait until DD is at least a year old, if not a couple.  Good luck OP!

  • Ours was a pleasant surprise. I'm not ready for another one for a while. I have an IUD so at least 2 to 3 more years before we start trying again! I'm a SAHM so by the time we get one out of diapers I will ready for another both body wise and financially!

I've heard that as well.  DH wants to start immediately.  I may be on board, but in actuality, I need a break.  XD

You're a bit older, though, aren't you? I'm 37 and my doctor said something similar to me since the risks get higher the longer we wait anyway. A year or two starts really changing numbers at this age. There's no way in hell I'd do it again but I can understand wanting to get them in quickly at this age if I did.

  • I don't think you're crazy, but we won't try for another until DS is 18 to 24 months. That's what my OB recommended so my body could fully heal and it's just fine with me. I need this kid to STTN before I can fathom being pregnant again, and he's not showing any signs of doing that any time soon.
  • Good for you!! I am still not on any BC. DH has yet to try. He is more on the no more side. If we did, it would be a total opps. which secretly i am praying for.

  • Yep! But had my son's six month apt today and the doc tried to suggest I bfd another 6 months then try. But I think I will make an apt with my OB first because if I have to go the fertility route I want to stop breastfeeding and start sooner rather then later.

  • We are TTC. Since we are in our 30's and have had trouble with TTC and losses, we decided to to try sooner rather than later.

  • You are definitely not crazy! I LOVED being pregnant and feel the baby fever comin' on pretty often :) I am actually just going back on BC right now...until this point we have been somewhat careful and figured if it happens, it happens. It didn't so we have talked about trying again around Christmas or Valentine's Day to give a decent gap. If DH was 100% ready right now I'd be trying immediately! :)

  • Congrats-

We have been thinking/ttc. My little girl is 6 months old tomorrow. I started having a very light/streaking on Sunday, none on Monday, some on Tuesday and some brown Wednesday. Along with the streaking, I have also had minor cramping. I'm trying to figure out when to test. The only other possible symptoms I have had is being extremely hungry and thirsty. I have been having to pee more ( I think).... What's the possibilities? I still BF but I also have been giving solid foods. We have been unprotected and no BC for at least a month....

When should I test? anxious but happily excited

  • I don't think you're crazy.  I just talked to MH about this the other day in a real frank conversation.  He's hinted that he wouldn't be sad if we got KU again soon.  So I asked.  He said he'd like to wait a little longer still.  We're thinking maybe we'll try again starting around January.

That being said, we're using pulling out and charting to prevent right now and I told him that it was O time a few days ago (after our talk).  I told him if I say it's a pull out day he is in charge of making that happen.  And he didn't.  Then he said "oh, well.  if you get pregnant it'll be ok".  So I guess technically we're trying this month, too.   Big Smile

Lots of love to my BFPB, Squishy622 <3
