LO's first illness :(

I gave Sydney my cough and I feel terrible! I tried so hard to stay away, but that's pretty much impossible with a LO. She has a little cough and her voice is so raspy! It is so sad to see her sick, but her raspy voice is actually kind of cute. ;) I feel lucky that this was the first illness she has had in 5 months, but it's still so hard to see her so miserable. I called in sick to work tomorrow, so we will be cuddling on the couch a lot together!

Does anyone have any great recommendations for this? I set up the humidifier, so hopefully that helps a bit.

  • we're in the same boat, and it's awful to see her trying to smile at me through her stuffy little nose. no advice beyond the humidifier, but hope you both feel better soon!

  • The humidifier should definitely help. But I totally agree- the raspy baby voice is so darn cute! I hope she is feeling better soon!
  • Oh poor DD!!  The best thing I've found is the humidifier/vaporiser.  We use it for DS1 whenever he has a cold/cough and it helps a lot.  We have a Vicks Vaposteam one where you put in the vapor liquid which smells like eucalyptus.  Not sure what they have in the US but I'm sure there's something similar.  It's awesome for coughs, you want to keep the room as humid as possible.  Hope she feels better soon!

  • We are on L's second cold which is worse than the first. I feel bad that she can't clear her throat. We use the humidifier, saline spray and bulb for the nose. We have a nosefrida but she hates it but is ok with the bulb. And lots of extra cuddles!

We have the Vicks Cool Moisture Starry Night humidifier and it also has that yummy eucalyptus scent. It makes me want to sleep on the floor in her room because it smells so good and it makes stars on the ceiling!
