Stopping Procardia...

Today was my last day of taking 10mg of Procardia every six hours. I have been talking it because I have been dilated 4cm and having contractions since I was 28 weeks. I am officially 37 weeks and able to safely stop taking the Procardia, but remain on bedrest. The big question now is how long will it be until I deliver. Have any of you ladies went through this? How long did you deliver after stopping your medicine?

    A friend of mine stopped her nifedipine at 36 weeks. She was induced at 41 weeks. Other women go into labor within hours. There's no telling when! Congrats on getting to term though. Awesome!

    Like PP said it is different for everyone. I went off at 36 weeks and had my DD a week later, but I never had a contraction that I felt...I just started leaking AF.

    Being that your already 4cm dialated I would think it would happen sooner rather then later. I was 4 cm dialated when I went it leaking fluids

    I stopped taking procadia at 36wks at 38wks I was 5cm dilated and thinned out. I had to be induced at 39wks due to other medical reasons lol. So yes no telling I was sure I was going to give birth within a week of stopping it but nope.

    I was 2cm and 75% effaced when I started my Procardia at 31 weeks. Took it until 37 weeks.

     I stopped it Monday afternoon, and had some contractions Tuesday that I thought were it....but they stopped. I think I was leaking AF though, because on Thursday am, I had a TON of bloody show and contractions, so DH took me to the hospital. When we got there at 10am I was 5cm and 75%. Had my son at 9:07 that night!

    It didn't take long for me after I stopped, but like PP said, everyone is different.

    I was told to not just stop procardia but to wing myself off of it....my water broke after 2 days of taking it only 2 times a day!  So be prepared!  But 37 weeks is a good number.  GL

    I gave birth today less than 24 hours of stopping. Thank you ladies for the feedback. He is a healthy 6lb. 9 1/2 oz. baby. He is breathing, eating and maintaining his body temperature really well. We are completely head over heels in love with him.
