Sharp lower abdominal pains anyone?

So I have been getting sharp pains one either the left or right side of my lower abdomen when I move quickly. It usually happens when I turn over too quickly in bed, but happened today when I stood up. It's quick, sharp and goes away within a few seconds. It also happens sometimes when I cough or sneeze. Anyone else experiencing this at all or know what it may be??

  • I have the exact same question...it feels like I pulled a muscle or something for a minute or so.

  • I experience that too.  I think I heard it has something to do with the uterus stretching?  I could be totally wrong though :)

  • I've been getting that.  I had it last pregnancy, yoo.  I think PP is right...it's related to your ute.

  • I have a cyst that feels very similar to that. They are very common in pregnancy!

  • My What to Expect when You're Expecting book talked really briefly about this. It's just the uterus making room for baby! If it lasts longer than a quick jab it might be something to talk to your doctor about (at least that's what I read-- I'm by far not an expert haha)

  • I had that when I was pregnant with DD. It freaked me out but the midwife told me it was just my Ute adjusting to pregnancy and not to worry. I've gotten a few so far with this one but not nearly as often.

  • What you all are feeling is called Round Ligament Pain and is very common during pregnancy. I had it with DD last time and have only had it once or twice with this one.

Here is what WebMD described it as:

Several thick ligaments surround and support your womb (uterus) as it grows during pregnancy. One of them is called the round ligament.

The round ligament connects the front part of the womb to your groin, the area where your legs attach to your pelvis. The round ligament normally tightens and relaxes slowly.

As your baby and womb grow, the round ligament stretches. That makes it more likely to become strained.

Sudden movements can cause the ligament to tighten quickly, like a rubber band snapping. This causes a sudden and quick jabbing feeling.

    Hope that helps!!

  • Yup, totally normal round ligament pain! I had them starting very early in my first pregnancy too! I convinced myself it was something bad and I got myself alllllll worked up! But, they were totally normal "ute stretching pains" :)

    this

I definitely feel it more in the beginning of pregnancy, but it can happen anytime...a good sign that everything is moving/stretching the way it is supposed to!
