I went into L&D twice for consistent contractions. I was 1cm dialated and 50% effaced. I would go walking everyday and suck down water. The second time I went in I was dehydrated so they Admitted me and gave me a dose of Ambian (Which by the way I hated,it didn't seem to work and it made me hallucinate!) The nurses agreed that I was contracting but I was not Dilating yet and they wouldn't touch me until I was atleast 39 weeks. (which was 3 days away!) I went home and continued to stay hydrated and walk. Tuesday I was having lower back pains and contractions, I called my husband right after he left for work around midnight (He works security overnight) He was unsure it was the real thing and was hesitant at first but, agreed to come get me and take me in. By the time he got home I was moaning and groaning. We came straight to L&D and they brought me in.I was exactly 39 weeks. My contractions were intense and getting worse so they admitted me.I was also 3 cm. They kept me on Stadol pain reliever until the DR got in later in the morning. They gave me my epi and popped my water. I went in and out until about 5cm and they put a Foley catheter in to measure internal contractions. The Epi didn't ( to me) seem to work because I was so uncomfortable. They upped my dose and about an hour later I was 8cm!!!! Another hour or so I was feeling the need to push. I pushed for about 45 min-an hour and he was born by vaginal delivery at 7:28pm on 9-4-12. 24 hours after my labor started on the 3rd,yet he came on the same day I was officially admitted. He was 5lbs 9.8 oz. I Love him more than anything but I feel he will be the ONLY one I have.
