Feeling a little down today

I've been back at work now for almost 2 months...I had a really hard time at first, then started feeling better.  For some reason today I am feeling super down about working and not being at home with DD.  I like getting out of the house and doing something..but I hate only seeing her an hour or 2 before bed after work. I miss so much quality time with her. Especially now that she is getting a lot more interactive.  I wish I could go PT at work here, but we are all on my insurance because DHs work doesnt offer any (even though it is a family business).

I really dont need anything but someone to make me feel better. I just looked at the Nanny cam and saw her and got overwhelmed with emotions.  Im holding back tears.  :-(

Re: Feeling a little down today

  • Is it possible that you take an extra day off before or after a weekend to get 3 solid days with her?  I always find that a bit refreshing when I am missing my kiddos and feeling guilty for not being with them all day every day.

I wish.  I just took 2 1/2 days off last weekend to get a 5 day weekend.  You would think after that I would feel better, but I guess it just made me miss my time with her more.

  • Aw I hear you, it is so hard sometimes. Part time is not an option for me, and I commute an hour each way so I am away a long time. But I do carry the insurance and right now I am the only one working since the hubs got laid off.

I do find a long weekend recharges me. I wish I could work 3 days and close to home so I just try to keep in my head that someday this might happen, just not now.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • It's really hard. I know there's nothing I can say to cheer you up but just know that you are not alone. I have days like that too.

    AW MAN!  That stinks.

Maybe she'll go through a growth spurt screamy crying phase and you'll be like "PLEASE LET ME GO TO WORK!"

    Stick out tongue

    This.

And today after work I have to meet my husband to go sign loan docs. It's hard. I felt really down yesterday and am constantly trying to think how I could make it work to be part-time. my mother-in-law watches my LO and she's constantly giving unsolicited advice and acts as if she "knows" him better than I do. Can anyone relate to that? It just makes you feel worse, like, I wouldn't know because I'm not with him all day...

Praying you feel better! Listening to KLOVE radio online helps me feel better and thankful for the time I do have with him!

  • Hang on, honey, it's almost Saturday!  It might not be a consolation, but imagine how happy she is when she sees Momma walk in that door.  I bet she squeals with delight!

  • I feel this way frequently.  I am constantly searching for jobs that will allow me to be more flexible.  Right now I work a compressed work schedule with a 3 day weekend every other week which helps.  Have you talked to your boss about some options for flexibility?  Sorry I'm not much help, but know you're not alone.

I'm sorry sweetie! I hope as she gets older you may be able to spend more time with her in the evenings? What time do you get home and what time do you put her to bed?

I don't get DD to bed until 9 or 10 pm. I get to have 4 or 5 hours with her after work and it's great. Honestly, I've tried to get her down earlier but she will not have it.

This is me too. I hate it.

Thanks for the kind words and making me feel better.  You and these candy corn M&Ms are doing the trick. Although I am getting to the point where the M&Ms are making me a little sick.  I love April bumpies.

Thank you :-).  I put her down around 7:30 or 8...she stays up much past that and she is a grump.  But we still have an evening nap in there too..so by the time its all said and done I get 2 hours with her if I am lucky.

  • My MIL gives unsolicited and annoying advice even though she doesn't take care of her all day. So there's that. She might be a pain even if you didn't work

That probably doesn't help :( I'm getting sad now too thinking about work tomorrow. Ugh.

  • I'm so sorry. Has your dh looked into independent insurance? That is what we had to do after I quit my job. It cost a lot, but is worth it to us.

  • Aggie, I've had a bad day today too!  I've been back for over a month and felt we had a routine down...but then this week has been miserable.  LO has gone to bed an hour earlier than normal, I think she has been wanting an earlier bedtime (7 instead of 8) and I only see her for about 2 hours now too! :(  I miss her so much.  She smiled a big smile when I dropped her off this morning and she saw her babysitter...but she didn't smile at me when I picked her up. :(:(:(:( I hope it was just because it was the afternoon and close to her nap, but that hurt to have to work for a smile.

I think the holiday and getting more time with her this weekend is adding to my guilt, it's just reminds me of how much I am missing. :(

I'm a teacher, so I just keep counting down to the next weekend/holiday/etc., that is how I make it through.
