I do believe not long ago there was a thread where everyone was worried sick about popping out huge babies the size of watermelons, so I thought I'd share this story..
A friend of my mom's has a 20 year old daughter who was doing a home waterbirth. Unfortunately for her, her midwife couldn't make it to her house when she went into labor so she delivered on her own. All that being said, the girl, who was a FTM, gave birth to a 10 lb, 14 oz baby in a tub at home.
The kicker?
She didn't tear at all.
There's still hope for you VBAC ladies. Happy Thursday. ![]()
Re: Speaking of huge babies..
Oh holy crap. Dear Baby, please remain in the 47th percentile. I do not want to push out a nearly 11lber.
But it's nice to know it can be done
Yikes! She's so lucky she didn't get tore the eff up!!
When I hear about big babies, it makes me think of my giant sized little brother. He was 12lbs 2oz(24in) when he was born. My 5ft mother pushed that sucker out..tore every which way in the process but it was in the hospital.
I remember my ex's sister telling me horror stories about her 4 boys, and how she tore 4 ways with each. I don't even think they were big babies.
That story's crazy...
My best friend had giant babies: her son was 12 lbs 13oz and her daughter was 10 lbs some ounces. She had GD during both pregnancies and had to have a c-section each time.
See, now I want to cry and panic. I had no worries about this until Tuesday. I was around 8.5 lbs at birth at one or two weeks past due and my DH was a tiny baby. Plus I don't have GD, so I've been figuring on average sized baby. At my last two appointments my fundal height measured a few weeks ahead, so now I'm freaking out a little that "OMG giant baby" is growing in there. Probably not and hopefully ultrasound before next appt will confirm it, but extra stress, I do not need you!
They probably just got your due date wrong. When my mom was preg with my older sis they told her March 28 and my sis didn't show up until april 29. Lord knows it's called an EDD for a reason
Don't stress.
My fundal height at 21w was measuring 8 weeks ahead so 29w. But I had an u/s that morning (20w a/s) and baby was measuring in the 64th percentile for 21w. So not necessarily a big baby. I am still measuring 4-5w ahead.
