Special Needs

Just had our EI evaluation

It went as well as I expected. He scored typically in fine and gross motor, social, and cognitive skills. He has a minor delay in expressive language and a significant delay in receptive language. He also has a lot of sensory issues (which we suspected - they just confirmed). We will get the call to meet and prepare an IFSP to move forward.

I have to say, I actually feel a sort of relief now. I had suspected for some time that he was not developing typically and everyone (including my H) disagreed with me. I'm glad that we can now move forward with helping him. Also, I feel better in knowing that I'm not a crappy parent who can't manage her out of control child.

  • I felt relieved after ours, too, for the same reason. Glad he will be getting the help he needs!

  • Good for you for getting EI involved. In 6 months you will likely see a lot of progress. Trust yourself and keep advocating when things don't seem right.
