Anyone planning on attempting to do sign language w/their baby? I can't decide, but I feel like it's probably something I should look into now if I'm going to give it at try.
I probably will. I used to work at a daycare center a while back and worked with infants. Part of the program included teaching them basic signs for: More, Please, Thank You, Eat, Milk and some others I can't remember right now. It was the cutest thing seeing babies sign to you. Not to mention made it so much easier than hearing them cry when they wanted something.
I think some basic signs will be useful. My mom is an occupational therapist and taught my niece some signs, which she really does use (like More, Thank you, etc.). It's cute
Yes we are, my DH's husband is Deaf so we figure baby will need to know at some point. My DH obviously already knows sign language but I know very little...so it will be good learning for me too

we use it with my 16 month old son and we love it. it really has helped so much! we don't do all signs but maybe about 10 and as the vocabulary grows we've picked up more words and the older he gets the faster he picks them up. so helpful. I honestly think it helps a lot with their vocabulary too. my SIL is a speach therapist and she used all sign with her now 8 year old daughter and it was amazing to me when she was 3 how large her vocabulary was and how articulate she was compared to my niece who was the same age. it makes a huge difference whether you use it alot or a little.
Re: baby sign language?
Yes. There is a lot of research demonstrating the benefits of using sign language.
It can also make for some good laughs. My nephew busted myself and BIL the one time we gave him some candy before breakfast.
