Re: Iphone vs. Android (Clicky Poll)

  • I have an iphone and my husband has a droid.  His droid needs to be restarted every so often like a computer that has crashed.  It overheats too!  My iphone always works for me, and the battery life is considerably longer than the Droid. Hope this helps!

That is true about the rebooting.  When I compared the stats of the Iphone and Galaxy, it said that the battery life of the iphone was half that of the galaxy.  I don't know if that's true or not.

  • iPhone! I love mine. My DH has a droid, and I had a droid before. The Droids were great, but not anything in comparison to my phone now. DH's newest Droid broke when it fell from about 6 inches up. Seriously...the screen shattered! My iPhone has taken the occasional beating just fine. I also don't have to restart it and charge it less.

    What does that mean?

It means going in and removing the limitations the manufacturer puts on the phone so that it works better and you can add apps and programs that normally wouldn't be allowed because of how the phone is programmed. We're an Apple house until it comes to phones. T can jailbreak the iPhone, but it takes a lot of time that he'd rather spend doing other stuff.

I'm looking for reasons Smile  It seems like iphone users swear by their phones, but I have yet to hear concrete reasons why it's so great.

I went through this debate a while back and ended up a proud iPhone owner--but I was torn. DH is AT&T and has had an iPhone for years; I have Verizon and most recently had the LG Touch. When it was time for a smartphone for me, I did a lot of research. I use a Mac at home but a PC at work, so I'm split in terms of my computer base. When it came down to it, I hung out in a Verizon store for a while and just tried to do everything I do a lot of on both a Droid and an iPhone: texting, listening to music, bumping--I mean, web surfing Smile, etc. Try it and you'll see: most things are easier, faster, and more logical on an iPhone. Plus, I liked the mapping interface much more.

    I haven't regretted it once!

    Great feedback...Thanks!

  • DH and I both have iPhones, 3Gs to be exact. We came from having blackberries. I have played around with droids that family/friends have and feel like the iPhone is much easier to navigate. DH is not tech savvy at all and understands his iPhone perfectly, for him. I use mine more for numerous things (like bumping!) and messaging my boss. He uses the email portion of it. I also have an iPad so it's simpler for me to keep up with the same type of setup/programs.

On another note, my MIL and FIL both have droids. She has had numerous issues with her battery/charging. Side by side, FIL and I were googling the same thing at the same time next to each other and I was able to get the info quicker.

I have short term memory loss. Do not take it personally if I do not remember you right away.

    iHeart my iPhone
    WHY?!

Because every other phone I or DH have had has tried to be the iPhone and failed miserably. though never had the droid, so can't truly comment. It's intuitive and user friendly, its multiple devices all in one, and it's pretty.

There's also great tech support in the NYC area there's nothing quite like going to the Apple store and having a tech support guy work through every possible issue, and if they can't fix it, hand you a brand new phone no questions asked. Invest in a good case that will hide any scratches, and never worry about dropping your phone again. Customer satisfaction is one of Apples top priorities, and their service reflects that.

  • iPhone! DH has a Droid, and it is much less "smooth" to navigate than my iPhone. Don't know if that makes sense. It's is hard to explain....once you have an iPhone, it's just hard to go back. It's just the perfect mini computer, but you can make phone calls from it...ha! That being said, there will still be times you cuss at it...as you would with any technology.
  • I PPH my iPhone.  It works just as awesome as it did over a year ago, I love the apps, I love the camera/video, I love how it links up with my DH's iPhone, our iPad, and our MacBooks.  Hands down best phone I have ever owned.

They are coming out with the iPhone 5 in a few months I believe.  I would just wait until then.

Jailbreaking does void your warranty or Apple Care though.  Just FYI.  I didn't want to risk that.

  • I had a droid ad switched to theiphone a year ago. It's so far superior IMO. DH can't wait for his upgrade to get the iPhone 5.

  • Concrete reasons..my droid was slow, would lockup, shut down, etc. I've never had that issue with the iPhone. I like Siri. I like the interface way better. The cloud is amazing. I dropped my phone in water (destroying it) and when I got my replacement, all I had to do was login and it restored the new phone to be exactly like my old one. All my pictures were there, apps were downloaded, etc. The camera is better (at least than my old one and DH's 17-month-old on). The battery life is fine. I usually do have to recharge during the day, but I use my phone a lot.

  • Here are two other reasons  that I didn't add in my previous post:

    1. The picture was crystal clear!  I compared the screens with other phones in the store and it just looked perfect.

     2. This may seem silly but....  I wanted it to fit in my pocket if need be and the iphone is smaller.  I can't fit those big droid phones in my pocket!  Silly, I know.

  • I had an iPhone, hated it.  Now I have a Windows phone and I LOVE it!  Windows phones used to be such POS but they have come a long way!
  • I've never had an android, my current iPhone 4 was/is my first smartphone. I love it. I use the iMessage and FaceTime features all the time. I think the screen resolution is better than any android I've seen, and I think the touchscreen is more sensitive and less choppy (hard to explain what I mean, but you should try some phones out so you can see how they feel.) other than that I don't have a lot of concrete comparisons since I've never used an android other than just testing them out. But I love love love my iPhone and will never get anything else.

  • I have had an Droid for 2 years and never really had any problems with it until the last month or two.  It  just freezes up once in a while now but always resolves itself in a few seconds.  I'm due for an upgrade next month and am also having the Droid/iPhone debate.  I hate Apple, but I may cross over only because everything at work is Apple and because it seems like all the cool stuff is released for iPhone and iPad months before Droid.  I feel like there are a lot of people out there who go Apple just because it's Apple without any actual reason, so I'm glad to see the specific feedback here from people who have used both.

  • My husband and I both have two different phones.  I have an iPhone and he has an Android. He is always complaining about the battery life and the slowness of the Android, but he is not use to a Mac Op. System so that's what throws him off.  Before I got my iPhone I swore up, down, left and right that I would never own a Mac product.  I now have the iPhone4 which I love, and an iPad3.  They will be announcing the new iPhone5 on September 12th, which will have 4G, I would suggest waiting until that one comes out and get it if you can.  He is switching over now to the iPhone 5 once it comes out.  I just think it's better hardware and a better product altogether.

EDIT:  I have had an Android before as well .. so I've had experience with both phones
