Anyone worried about being ready?

I am starting to feel anxious that I won't be ready in time... Bags won't be packed, car seat won't be installed, etc. Am I just having anxiety or is anyone else worried about this too?

Re: Anyone worried about being ready?

  • The way I'm looking at it, if everything's not "ready", it's not like Pumpkin is going to say "forget it! I'm leaving!"

We're getting a new vehicle soon, so won't be installing the car seat until then, the room still isn't ready for her stuff to be moved into, and I've finally started to think about what to pack.

At least everything we need is there, just not ready or organized!

  • Yeah, we have what we need and/or can easily get it. I think I am just feeling anxious.

  • YES! I actually have my hospital bag & diaper bag packed, and my car seat installed. I've gone ahead and done everything that I'm able to.. But my due date is Oct 7th and we still have 2 more showers so we haven't been able to do a big shop to make sure we have everything! And a lot that we are lacking are pretty important items! But I figure if he comes early and we aren't ready then I'll send a friend or family member to the store with our credit card to get everything that we need. But i'm with you on feeling anxious!

  • nah,

there is nothing I need that isn't easily gathered together or procured while I am at the hospital.

  • I am completely unready. The second bedroom hasn't been packed up of all it's junk, the car seat hasn't been installed, the hospital bag hasn't been packed and I see none of these happening in the very near future. We were also planning on moving into a downstairs apartment around my due date (in the same complex), but now that clean lovely space I was thinking of is out of reach due to ridiculous fee's and my husbands unwillingness to pay them (which I understand).

  • When I hit the third trimester I was super paranoid about getting everything done. My hospital bag has been packed since the beginning of August! Now, I'm so tired I really just make sure I have the essentials - car seat installed, some onesies, pampers, and wipes! The room still isn't done and I haven't bought everything I wanted to but I'm really not stressing - sleep seems to be super important to me right now! LOL

  • I just started feeling this way, I know I can easily throw the items I need in the bag and DH is capable of installing the car seat but I keep getting this what if we are visiting family/friends or what if I am at a dr appt and she says go straight to the hospital feeling.

We really need to pack the hospital bag and put the car seat in the car, but DH and I are both procrastinators, the goal is to do it this weekend.  So if we have it in by mid Sept, I will be happy

  • I was stressing out so much this weekend.  There are some pretty big decisions I still haven't made.  DH sat me down on Sunday and we made a long list.  I actually feel better and don't feel overwhelmed anymore.  Now that it is out of my head, he can help pick up the slack too.

  • I bought diapers, a pnp, and some onesies. That should cut it, right? Actually, I still need to order my birthing kit. That's pretty necessary considering it includes all of our birthing supplies like gloves, sterile pads, etc.

  •     Yes! I am super super type A OCD and I want EVERYTHING to be done as soon as possible. There is a very real possibility that LO will be here in just 5 weeks due to a condition I have that caused the OB to deliver DS#2 @ 37 weeks. I know realistically we will be fine but I also know that I am unable to relax when I don't feel prepared and organized. This creates unnecessary tension in my household. :( And I also want to have some time to rest before LO is here and before I am too uncomfortable to be productive lol!

The shared room is all cleaned and furniture is set up and things are organized for the most part but none of the linens, curtains or decor are up. I have no car seat, because I am a dummy and didn't realize it is unsafe to buy a used seat. My garage (MH's domain, not mine) is a freakin' mess and I cannot even get to my gear in there to clean it off and what not, so no swing or bouncy seat or double stroller to use. Aye aye aye! Oh well, I am going to go take a deep breath now haha!

My mom keeps telling me I have plenty of time, but I'm pretty sure it's just because she has some things she'd like me to do for her and she doesn't want to wait.  At least my fear that everything won't be ready has be working a lot harder to get stuff done!

My mom is the complete opposite of yours.  She asks me everyday if I packed my bag, do I have a robe for the hospital, etc etc.  She does it out of love and excitement but she makes me nervous.  Now that we installed the car seats, I've made some frozen meals and the suitcase is actually downstairs, I do feel a bit better.  Honestly, I'm just kind of rolling with the punches though.

  • I'm so tired now I really don't mind if things aren't ready. The bags are packed and there's food in the freezer, nursery is useable and that's enough for me. This whole pregnancy has been crazy and I'm just ready to chill,no extra stress.

I have an ideal list of things I'd like to do before next weekend with the intentions of then resting until our C/S but in all honesty, I just seeing resting happening.

  • I feel so much better after reading all of these responses. We actually *do* have the nursery, plenty of onesies, diapers and wipes. Haven't packed a hospital bag yet, but I have gotten a nursing nightgown and nursing bra to take. We just ordered a bassinet, but still need a play yard/pack'n'play. I guess that can wait though, I doubt LO will be needing one any time soon.

My real worry is getting the house ready for my grandma, who is going to be staying with us for 3 months. I love my grandma, and I look forward to her help but I also still feel the need to clean house and make sure everything is organized and she has space to put her things. I'm talking about polishing and dusting and putting away things in storage.

  • You know what I really stress about?  The house being clean when the mw gets here.  I'm so thankful she's coming once a week at the end because it's incentive (to DH too) to just keep the place really clean. That way we won't have as much to do when the time comes.  Yes, I'm that paranoid about how my house looks when other people are here.  And I have over 150lbs in furry beasts at my house, so it's difficult.
  • YES! We have a carseat, but DH insists it doesn't need to be installed until the baby is born (we live 5 minutes from the hospital so he thinks he will run home and get it). We have very little in the clothing department, 10 pocket diapers/8 inserts but no other diapers and no bed for the baby. We were supposed to have a baby shower, but the woman putting it on called it off because she got mad at me (my own mother actually) so now I'm freaking out..

  • I'm pretty far away from ready, but I'm not too anxious about it.  Yet, at least!  I finish work next week, and I plan on spending my first week off getting all of the remaining items and then organising and preparing the nursery, packing my bags, etc.  So I have a plan, and that helps me feel better.  Now I just have to hope baby doesn't make an appearance before then!

  • I'm just the opposite- I'm a 'fly by the seat of my pants' kind of girl, so I'm always like "there's still time" or "It'll work out..." I'll be worried when I go into labor and realize I only have half the nursery painted and haven't installed the car seat base lol.
