Babies: 9 - 12 Months

OMG I'm going to lose it!!!

Why won't this child go to sleep?!?!?!? I put her to bed 4 hours ago and she is still awake!!!  Crying

We did ferber a few months ago and it's been going great...once in a while we have a little issue like this where she has trouble falling asleep but this is the absolute worst ever!!! She is teething right now so I'm sure that's part of it but I gave her tylenol - which usually helps - I nursed her before bed like I usually do and have now nursed her 2 more times since then...I've turned her fan on in case she's hot...turned it off in case she's cold...nothing is working! She will lay down for 10-15 min, I'll think she's asleep and then out of nowhere she stands up and just cries and cries...it's awful I just don't know what else to do for her. Before the last time I nursed her I just took her out of the crib and sat with her on the floor to see what she would do and she started laughing and wanted to play. Ugh!

DH is now in there trying to calm her down (thank God he's off work tonight-he works the night shift).

Ok, I just needed to vent...I know she'll go to sleep eventually (dreading what tomorrows gonna be like though) I'm just so frustrated because I want to help her but nothing seems to be working. Thanks for reading.

  • Do we have the same baby? My LO was down at 9:15 (normal bed time is 8pm) up at 11pm, tried nursing, slept in bed with DH and me until 1:30am. Put her back in her crib at 1:30, she slept until 5:45 am. Back in bed with me, tried nursing, gave her a bottle, tylenol and then back in her crib before I left for work at 7am. Up again with DH at 8:30am.

Teething is the pitts!!! If I have to hear my mom say one more time, "I could never even tell that you or your brother were teething," I'm gonna go nuts.

    I feel your pain girly!

  • when my DD does this I'll usually try for about an hour or so to get her to sleep after that If she seems to not be setteling down and I'm already beyond frustrated I'll let her stay awake and watch tv until she seems exhausted.. Usually about an hour later she'll go down easily.. Sometimes you just gotta give in and stop trying. You can sit there nursing/rocking/singing ect. for hours upon hours and yes they'll eventually fall asleep but that's after hours of fighting, crying(both baby and you) and lots frustration.. In the end its just not worth it IMO ..

  • Teething can totally disrupt sleep. My DD has been sleeping through the night since she was 1 month old. Since she is teething, she is having nights where she wakes up or has a hard time going to sleep.
