Re: Brag Day Wednesday!

  • Yay!  I've been waiting for this all day!

Yesterday, Lily started her integrated therapy program which weaves OT, PT, Speech and Early Ed together into a daycare type setting to help those affected by CP and other neuromuscular disorders.  Well, Lily kept getting compliment after compliment from the therapists and teachers.  They couldn't believe how happy and interactive she was.  Then, about 1.5 hours into the session all the children seemed to crash (we all kind of expected this), and all the babies started to cry or fuss, except Lily.  I was in a parent meeting, but I heard later that when her neighbor started to cry, she looked over, gave him an empathetic look and stuck out her hand toward him.

Now, I have studied childhood development and I know children don't typically develop empathy until they are older, but how stinking cute is that!

  • Nice brag JoJo, that's awesome!

Not much here, except that DS went off to the first day of school today, and he was actually happy about it. I don't want to jinx anything, but we'll see how he is when he's home. And this is with 2 of his best friends since grade 1 moving over to the new school (they merge back next year in grade 10).

  • DD1 had her third dentist appointment last week -- and she actually let the hygienist polish her teeth!

She has been great about letting them look, count, even scrape her teeth with the pick at past appointments. But the polisher is so noisy and it scares her.

DH brought her in early so that she could watch me get my teeth polished during my appointment, and even though she was scared when it was her turn, she really wanted to "be brave." We convinced her to try it with one tooth, she got to pick which one, and then she let the hygienist polish all of them, and took a drink from the squirter.

Next time we'll try adding the paste. :)

    AWWWW! *tears*

Nate's teacher said that the school for the deaf's superintendant and principal came to the 2's class today for a visit. Nate stuck out his hand to give them a shake 'hello' and they were very impressed.

She also said that he is a great role model for circle time and very dependable to answer questions about "Who's here?" and Who's home?". Love that.

  • Amelie started a preschool for hearing and speech a couple of weeks ago. She's doing great! One of the teachers stopped me as we were leaving and said, "she's just so much fun!"

  • Everything right now is going soo well. So many things seem to be just clicking for DS. I feel so much hope right now.

I think I might have mentioned this before but he's telling me a little bit about his day including who he played with! Sure I have to ask leading questions and the info comes out in trickles but YAY!

We went to my ILs and they had a little party for him he turned 4 on Monday. I love it he's at the point where I can just leave him to play with his cousins without having to watch to make sure he doesn't destroy anything. Although I did catch him on a dresser with both hands in a fish tank but I'm pretty sure his cousin egged him on

He's completely potty trained. He started wearing underwear to bed about a week ago!
