Things to send to a newly pregnant momma...

I just got a text from one of my close friends with a picture of her TWO-lined pregnancy test!!! After battling infertility she and her hubby are finally expecting!  I seriously balled like a baby when she sent me the pic of the test...

ANYWAY, I want to send her a little "welcome to momma-hood" pregnancy care package, but am SO not creative with this kind of thing.  Do ya'll have any suggestions for what to include in it?  My thought is I would like this package to be for her (as opposed to including mainly baby stuff) - you know, those little things that will help her get through the first trimester.  What helped you make it through? Any thoughts and ideas would be a huge help!

  • in my case, after a loss, I was so afraid...something simple and not necessarily baby-centric in case she has a loss.

Like ginger tea and candy. Nothing that is for a baby.

  • A spa gift card?!?!
  • I'd do a little "spa basket" with lotion and stuff... Bath and body works has the sleep aromatherapy stuff that has seriously been a life saver this pregnancy! You can also add what LD said and put some ginger stuff in there to help with the m/s... All of that as a reminder to treat herself well during the pregnancy :)

This. The idea of Preggie Pops is also good, and some lotion or body oil

  • Johnson and Johnson makes an awesome lotion and body cause melt stress away. I've given it to many new mommies. Its in a purple bottle :-D

Honestly I had two losses and went through two rounds of clomid to get this DD. When I was in first trimester I lived in fear of another loss and didn't really buy anything.

It is great you are excited for her but I would keep the gift simple and like you said keep it to stuff for her and not the baby for now.

  • My MIL sent me a bella band, which was nice because I started to show late in the 1st tri and was seriously bloated 24/7

  • I had a morning sickness tea that seemed to help... though it might have all been in my head Surprise  I like the idea of the spa package things too though!

  • Thank you so much for the ideas!  Keep 'em coming!

For those of you who have had losses before - thank you for sharing your thoughts... my friend has had a couple of losses as well and is understandably nervous, which is why I am wanting to keep the gift to things that are just for her.  She is only 6 weeks along right now, so it's still really early (she texted me asking for prayers for a sticky baby)...I think I'm still going to wait a while before I send her the care-package, but I wanted to start putting together ideas...

I think this is a good idea. like pp's said- keep it focused on her, not the baby...and maybe wait until she sees a heartbeat?

  • I like the idea of lotion, tea, candies/preggie pops. maybe even some nice warm fuzzy slipper socks, since she will be PG during the winter season (I guess it depends on where you live) maybe a book?

  • I'm an IF'er all three of my kids are via IVF. I would say right now she's probably scared sh!tless. I think it's great that you want to celebrate her, but just be really careful. Know where her first tri checks are and that the baby is still healthy before you send. First tri is like an IF landmine.

Can you just take her out to dinner to celebrate?
  • If she's OOT I'd just send a nice card or something like that. I don't know if her betas came back or whatnot, but I'd lose my mind if I got a box of Preggo pops or whatever they are after getting a bad beta report.
  • Anything from the Earth Mama Angel Baby line for pregnancy.  https://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/pregnancy  They also have gift packs of a variety of items.  I LOVE the heartburn and peaceful mama teas!  They also do a morning sickness tea.

    All of this.

I'm sure she is very moved by your enthusiasm!  I'll keep my FX that this is her sticky ranbow baby!

Completely agree. We went through 4 IUI's including a loss before getting pregnant with this LO. I was so paranoid and on edge the entire time, we barely even talked about the pregnancy until week 13. I would say keep it simple - she'll know how happy you are for her either way!
