October 2011 Moms

*Code Buttercream* & *Code Candy Corn*

Those of you doing costume/Halloween type party for your LO's 1st birthday, how close is their actual birthday to Halloween?

Gator was born the 30th (38min shy of the 31st). This year we are celebrating her birthday on the 28th with a theme other than Halloween...because I was on this "dead set" roll that she would "never" have a Halloween themed birthday "just because she was born the day before". Now I am kind of bummed because I would like her to get more use out of her Halloween costume.....haha! Maybe next year.....

  • If we were able to have a party this year I wanted a pumpkin/slightly Halloween theme, no costumes though. I LOVE Halloween so I'll save the costumes for when he's a little older but DS was born on the 26th so he's pretty close to Halloween. I was born on the 19th and I've had a few Halloween parties too. I think a Halloween party could work anytime during the month since that's what October is known for but then again I love the holiday :]

  • L was born Nov. 1st, so pretty much the same situation as you and Gator. I think Papps was the one who mentioned awhile ago of just using a color "theme" instead of an actual theme. She suggested using pink/orange/black and the ideas on Pinterest were pretty cool!

Since L is technically born in November, most people think of Thanksgiving.. or the color brown. So I will be doing the color "theme" pink/orange/brown instead. I might throw in a few butterflies as well.. not sure yet.

I know what you mean about never wanting to have them have a Halloween-themed birthday. I think once they are old enough to tell you what they want for their birthday, then maybe they will want a costume-themed party. Until then, I plan on just finding a bunch of Halloween parties to go to and show off her costume haha.

  • We aren't doing it this year but I would like to maybe once he is preschool age and has a little class to invite. That is if he doesn't have his own ideas by then!

I wouldn't really do Halloween theme, more fall and pumpkins, but I would like for the kids to wear their coustumes.

He was born on the 12th but I don't think that seems crazy since really the only Halloween thing would be the coustumes.

  • We are doing a "little pumpkin" theme. Our DD's birthday is actually on Halloween, but we're doing her party the Sunday before as I am sure that her little cousins will want to go trick or treating instead of hanging out with us!

Those of you doing a Halloween type party...what food are you serving?

After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

We are doing a pumpkin/fall theme too! The kiddies will wear costumes. Party is on the 20th starting at noon so it's lunch food.  We're ordering coldcut wedges and chicken/mozzarella wedges, tortellini salad that I'll make and chicken fingers and fries for the kids.

I'm disappointed that I cant' find pumpkin 1st b-day plates so I guess we'll just do solid orange and mix w/ some yellow.

    What colors are you doing?

I'm doing a "pumpkin patch" party for DS.  His birthday is the 1st.  I am doing navy, orange and grey colors.  Here's my pinterest board for inspiration:  https://pinterest.com/samanthan89/party-pretty-jack-s-1st-birthday/
