I don't get having "Labor buddies"

Is it just me? I don't understand why my other BMB has a labor buddies thing going on, can you explain it to me?

What does a labor buddy do, just notify the board when you've had your baby? I guess I just don't understand why you would need to "make friends" with a BMB stranger so that they can post it for you. I mean I understand if you are close with a particular poster. Why not just post it yourself?

Did this board have this kind of thing set up? I wasn't active during that time.

    I didn't have one either. I think it is neat but not necessary. I know there where woman on our board that had them.

    Okay, yup, that is what I was thinking. Totally thought I was missing something wonderful by how excited people are about it.

    Like I said, I get it if you are super active on the board, you have "bump friends" who are really interested in what is going on. Otherwise, just post when you get a chance.

    I never heard of it before this post, as I also wasn't active until on TB until a few months after the baby was born.  I guess it's cool if you are super close with the ladies on your BMB.... but I know that when I was in labor, I didn't even have a clue where my phone was and had no interest in checking email, facebook, or text messages.  I had other things on my mind at the time!

    You got it right! Someone that tells the board the following:

    "Amywait is in LABOR!"

    2 hours later

    "Amywait is in the hospital about to have a baby!"

    5 hours later

    "Amywait is dilated 5cm!!!!"

    4 hours later

    "Amywait is getting ready to push! Wish her LUCK!!!"

    2 hours later

    "Amywait had her BABY!"

    1 hour later

    "Amywait's baby: PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    We started with the idea, but it really just turned into girls becoming closer friends. Most people posted their own birth announcements.

     

    Married: 3/01/08
    Baby Girl: 7/29/11
    Angel Baby: M/C 7/15/14 at 7wk
    BFP: 8/23/14 - Due 4/28/15  - It's a BOY!

    I had a LB back when I was pg with DD1, but I think the concept itself of labour buddies has become obsolete now that people can bump from their phone. Except for me. Because I live in the stone age.

    This. Although my fabulous labor buddy....Jelliebean... did post that I had my c-section because I also live in the stone age...
