Hi, all! I'm not a SAHM - yet. But I plan to be when our baby is born. This has always been The Plan. Even before DH and I were engaged, this was The Plan. Now there's a wrinkle in The Plan: DH just got a job in a different state, and we're moving.
I am obviously leaving my current job but am unsure if I should look for a job in the new location or not. I only found out that I'm PG this morning, so I understand that anything could happen. If I find a job now, I'll just have to quit in a few months to be home with baby. If I don't find a job, and something happens (e.g., MC), then I'll be sitting around bored, looking lazy to those who don't know The Plan... which will be everybody for at least a couple months.
BTW, I work in higher education finance, so whatever I would be doing wouldn't really be a "disposable" job, and I wouldn't want to burn any bridges with local universities where I might want to work when the LO is off to school and I return to work.
What would you do? How did you handle your departure from the workforce?
