I went to the ER this weekend on advice from my doctor's on-call line, where I proceeded to wait through lots of bloodwork, an IV, and two ultrasounds before the doctors started coming in. The first one explained that my results were "confusing" and I was either having a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, the second and third said that there was a small amount of hope because maybe it was earlier than I thought (though given my bfp almost three weeks ago I knew that wasn't the case), and then a fourth came in and reiterated that there was no hope for a viable pregnancy: just ectopic or miscarriage.
I left and later that night, the next day began having significant cramping along with bleeding and loss of tissue which continued through the night and the next morning. Today my doctor's office called to confirm my pending OB appointment & ultrasound, and I had to explain that I had a miscarriage despite the fact that the ER and office are associated so all the facts should have been in my chart. Just feeling sad and numb right now. And I hate all the associated appointments and pokes and checks.
For those who miscarried naturally, how long did the bleeding and tissue loss last? At what point/ how long afterwards did your normal cycle resume?
Re: intro
My bleeding/cramping lasted 4 days from when i went to the hospital. I was 7wks along. It'll be a week tmrw and physically Im all better....just not mentally.
I was 5 weeks when I lost mine. I bleed for about 5 days with 2 days of really bad cramps and right leg pain that came and went, It was like a really heavy period. AF came 3 weeks later.
I am so sorry for your loss!!!

I am so sorry for your loss.
My m/s was natural, and from spotting to end was seven days; I was only about 6 wks. Cramping, yes, but nothing that sent me back to the ER. I took OTC for the pain, although my midwife's office offered something stronger.
I hope you find some comfort here; all the ladies are very kind and understanding!
Thanks for the information! I was about 7 weeks along at the time that it started.
And yes, ectopics are very serious! They felt that it was likely a miscarriage based on my hcg the first two times they took it, but I had blood drawn again yesterday and they are supposed to get back to me today to verify that it's a straight miscarriage and not ectopic. Thank you for your concern.
