I have the opportunity to apply for a four week (out of state) training program. Now, there's obviously a chance I won't get it, but if I do, it would mean missing a month sometime around 10 or 11 months. I would be housed in an apartment with a full freezer, so getting the milk home would just be an investment in a cooler and dry ice, but do you think I'll be sentencing myself to a life of pumping, with DS not taking the boob for a month?
Re: Pumpers: 4 week business trip?
i wouldn't even worry about this yet. apply and get it and see what happens later.
by 10-11 months, you child may have self-weaned already - you can't predict it.
good luck!
I would be worried about my supply dropping. . .But, is there a chance you could take your ds with you and a family member or friend watch him during the day?

Not to discourage you from pumping for a month, but I was gone for 6 days when DD was 6 months old, and when I came back my supply dropped from about 110% to 80% (I was freezing extra milk before the trip every day)... and then it dropped off fast after that - DD BF only for 8 months. So if BF is super important to you, just take that into consideration.
PS I have the PIS Medela pump so it wasn't due to a bad pump....
