I posted this on 0-3 and 3-6, but thought some of you on this board might know as well. I realize reflux doesn't = food allergy, but DS is currently being treated for reflux and allergy so I was hoping someone else here might know the answer.
How do you give LO their Prevacid dose time wise? You're supposed to
give it 30 minutes to start working on an empty stomach before their
"meal" which in our case is "breakfast" since we give it in the morning.
Problem is, DS wakes up screaming for his bottle in the morning. We've
tried waiting the full 30 minutes but today broke down around 15 because
I can't stand knowing he's crying that hard because he's hungry.
But...I know that probably rendered the Prevacid ineffective. So how do
you all do it?
Re: ? about Prevacid timing
I have a hard time with this too sometimes (DD2 is on Prevacid). What I do is nurse her when she first wakes up, then wait an hour to give her her morning dose, then wait 30 min before feeding her again.
This evening, I gave DD2 her evening dose, but she was hungry right afterwards, so I fed her and now she has the hiccups. : / I think you just have to do the best you can. If the timing is off, it's still better than forgetting a dose (IMO). It's a little easier once they're older and go longer between feedings. Though, clearly my LO is "older," and I still have timing issues...

Lurking here. DD has been on Prevacid since she was 2 months. We give it first thing in the morning (we have it upstairs) so as soon as she wakes we give it, then just wait the 30 minutes. She's learned that she has to wait a bit. Some days she's more hungry and we just have to distract her.
But I agree with PP, it better to eat shortly after then miss a dose.
Also, when she was younger we would do the same as above, give her the bottle, wait, then give her the prevacid an hour and half later and made sure she waited,
Personally I think it works better when she gets it on a completely empty stomach.
