I get allergy shots once or twice a week. Today when I went there was a woman in the office with a teenage boy and a two year old. The two year old wouldn't leave Pilar alone. He was sticking his head in her car seat, rocking it, kicking, and trying to touch her. I kept trying to keep him an arm's length away, but he was super bored. The mom kept calling him over and then ignoring him. I took Pilar out so I could move her more easily away from him. Next the little boy started playing with water cooler. The water cooler has a hot spigot as well and the water is super hot! One of the nurses asked mom to not let him play with it. Once again she called the little boy over and ignored him. He was back at the water or Pilar in less then a minute. I finally decided to try to entertain him with the magazine I was reading. This lasted for about 25 minutes.
Re: Other people's children!
Not cool. I'm sorry. For some reason, I am much more likely to say something to a kid than to another adult (the situation several threads below).
He will be a real joy in high school. I pity his teachers already.
All 2 year olds are relentless, it has no bearing on how he'll be as a teenager.
That said it sucks his mom wasn't paying attention or trying to redirect.
I'd shoot myself if I had to entertain DD for 25 mins in a waiting room, I guess we're lucky we always get called right in!
That's terrible!! I would've said something, but I have a 3 year old who can annoy other people (usually asking incessant questions which starts out cute but I realise YOUR kid is never as cute as you think, to other people) That mom should have known better:(
