TTC after 35

clomid anyone

New to the message board.  I am 38 and hubby and I have been doing the ovulation pee sticks for 4 months, charting on the calendar when I should ovulate and have been having un protected sex for one year.  Just started my first round of clomid in Aug.  Not expecting much, my AF is due on friday.  I am having pms cramps and all my normal symptoms of pms so I am not feeling lucky.  Anyone been through the clomid trials?

Re: clomid anyone

  • Hi there!  I am also new to the boards, having just joined today.  I am 37...will be 38 in a few months.  I have 3 kids from my 1st marriage.  I got remarried  1 1/2 years ago and we have been trying ever since then to get pregnant without success as he has a very low sperm count.  I did Clomid for 6 months ( and so did hubby) and the last 3 months we did IUI...still no luck :(

We used donor sperm this month...just yesterday actually and are hoping for a BFP!

I always ovulate, but on Clomid I have several big follicles. I can tell you that the higher dose of Clomid makes me have a very heavy period with more clots than usual.  I also cramp a bit more.  The Clomid also makes me weepy and I get horrible headaches, but I get headaches a lot anyway.

BTW....When I got pregnant with my oldest child, I had PMS type cramps and bloating.  I didn't believe it when the nurse said I was pregnant!  I kept saying...."but I have cramps!" lol.  I had gone in to get a MMR booster, in case I ever became pregnant, and they do a preg. test prior to vaccination....that was how I found out....about fell outta my chair!  So, chin up.....those may not be PMS cramps after all!!!

  • I know....but I am tired of getting my hopes up every month.  I usually can't wait and take a preg test early.  Then I get mad I wasted a test. Lol. I also have kids from a prev. Marriage.  My oldest is 16 and my youngest is 12.  It took over a year with each of those and I was young!   My hubby just thinks we get more "practice".  I am not sureholme hubbies get it.  They are not taking hormones, peeing on sticks and feeling fake implantation cramps.  I know he is just trying to lighten things up for me, but still.

  • My kids are getting ready to turn 16, 12, and 8...we have a little in common there.  I dread my ds getting his license...scary!

I know what you mean about taking the preg tests.  I do the same darn thing.....buy a test because I can't wait and then get mad because I wasted money on it when I should have just waited.

My heart just breaks when I get my period or have a negative test.  I just feel so bad for DH, he wants to be a father so bad....to experience someone calling him Daddy and watching that child grow....

    Hang in there!!!!!

  • I had clomid last month and and IUI that did not work.  Dr. put me back on Clomid the day after AF showed up.  I am 36 with no children.  Good luck!  I hope you get your bfp soon!

  • In the middle of my second clomid cycle now.  So far I haven't noticed any side effects.  Even though I didn't get my BFP last cycle I did get clear cut signs of ovulation last month and a close to "normal" looking cycle so to me that's progress.  We shall see what this cycle brings.  Good luck to you!
Me 39 & suspected PCOS, DH 42. Went off BCP when we got married in 11/11, seriously TTC since 3/12.  Six cycles of clomid = BFNs.  Suspected endometriosis & HSG showed both tubes blocked.  Sept 2013 IVF 5D transfer of two perfect embryos = BFN.  Started acupuncture and taking time off to drop some pounds & get healthier before FET in April 2014.
