Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this? I just learned my good friend who is carrying twins had to have surgery for this about a week ago. The surgery worked and the twins are OK for now but she's on bed rest. I think she's about 30 weeks. I am a little freaked out because I just watched a "Baby's first day" where there was a lady carrying triplets and she lost two of the babies due to this. Anyone have any experience or positive stories with this syndrome?
Thanks
Re: Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome
My aunt had this and her twins were born super early and she was told there wasn't much of a chance for either of them because of how early they were. The twin that was not getting enough nutrients ended up having problems with his eyes because of the oxygen and medications he needed in the incubator.
They are now 21 years old. The 'healthier' twin is about to graduate college, and the 'sicker' twin has taken time off from college to figure out what he wants to do and to compose piano music. He cannot see very well, but he has an amazing ear and composes beautiful music. Both had difficulties in school, mostly due to the 'normal' difficulties preemies often face, but they both worked hard and made it through.
