I am experiencing sonogram envy. My practice does not offer any sonograms unless there is an issue after 20 weeks which I realize is fairly common. However, my girlfriend's practice offers a growth sonogram between 30-34 weeks to check on obviously that the baby is growing accordingly and to have an early warning if not all is as anticipated.
Are other ladies getting this awesome sonogram?
Re: Did you have a growth sonogram?
Yes, I'm getting one. Mine is scheduled for 34 weeks.
Like daronsmommy pointed out, I'm a little leery of the size prediction since they can be pretty inaccurate. But I'm super excited to see our little guy again!
I am getting them every week due to GD. My OB/GYN said that the results of the weight are sometimes not accurate though so if I did not have GD - I would not be having the growth scan
I won't be getting one. My office does not offere then unless your fundal height is off by a lot, you have GD, or if they are concerned about baby not being head down by 36 weeks.
I'm jealous of all these ladies who do get one but I remind myself to be thankful I am not deemed by my OB to be 'at risk' for complications at this time. Only a few more weeks until I meet baby any way -- I can hold out!

In our area you automatically go to a High Risk Specialist. This doesnt matter if you are high risk or not. I am not, but had to go there at 13, 20 and 32 weeks. it use to only be 13 and 20. Recently 32 weeks became one. It is considered a growth scan, although they tell you that normally it is off on average of 1 lb either way. This little one is meausring 4lbs 10 ozs as of last Tuesdays scan. But like I said on avg it could be off by a lb. This would be the last one I get until 40 weeks. If I make it to my due date and don't deliver my OB/GYN will do on in there office. This is the only one I get done right in his office if any.
My practice routinely does a growth scan at 35/36 weeks.
However, I have had so many US this pregnancy it is just another one on the list - 8, 12, 28, 21, 30, and 35 weeks.
My OB does them for everyone in his practice whether you're high risk or not so yup I got one and it pretty much confirmed what I already knew: LO is a big one. I know the measurements can be off so I'm taking what they told me with a grain of salt however I always had the feeling LO would be an over 8lbs baby and that's what they told me during the u/s.
It was awesome to see him again though. His features have changed so much and I can honestly say I think he looks more like me than H. We'll see once he comes out!
I had one at 32 weeks but I think it was more to check and make sure the baby was head down (she was breech at my 20 week apt).

TTC#2 - November 2012
BFP #4: O'd on CD25 (Aug. 2014). DD May 6, 2015. RCS planned.
Beta@14dpo: 184, 17dpo: 520. 44 hr. doubling time. p4: 54U/S 8 weeks 1 day, 161 bpm
No more ultrasounds for me.
Doc stated they would only do a growth ultrasound if I started measuring big...which I was 4 days ahead.
With DS, I had an ultra sound once a week (due to blood pressure) from 32w - end. Everyone keeps asking me how big she is and I have no idea.
This time I will be having one. I had one at 26 weeks, 28 weeks, and now 32 weeks. I have to go to the high risk specialist sonogram despite there being a regular sonogram downstairs at my regular OB. Since baby was a surprise until 26 weeks, I'm 35, have had 3 c sections, and a complicated history in prior pregnancies(pre-e, pih, gd)I'm assuming I'll have to have more until I deliver.
I had growth scans every 3 weeks with DS, starting at 20w, because I was high risk & the docs were concerned about placental breakdown. He was always fine.
I've had 2 growth scans this time around, just to monitor that the same high-risk issues aren't popping back up. My doc has mentioned possibly doing a 3rd, but I'm going to decline unless my bump is measuring really off since my c/s is in 4 weeks.
