When did you start buying maternity clothes? I am exactly 5 weeks today and will start my 6th week tomorrow. My belly is very bloated feeling and my pants are already getting snug. Suggestions please!
There's nothing "wrong" with shopping early but it might not make the most sense. Stuff that's going to fit you now isn't likely to fit you through your entire pregnancy. For as long as you can, try the hair band trick or a bella band. That way you'll have an actual belly and not just a comes and goes bloat belly when you buy your maternity pants so you can get ones that will last and fit the best for the long haul.
Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different with my first pregnancy, I was not very bloated until near the beginning of my 3rd trimester. Although with this pregnancy, I'm wearing my pregnancy shorts earlier than before because of the bloating. Mostly Maternity Clothes are there to just to make you feel comfortable. If you're dealing with a lot of bloating, so much that you do not feel comfortable in your shirts and shorts, IE you can not zip let alone button your shorts, I'd say it's time for Maternity wear. Most maternity stores do offer a pregnancy belt which will cover your unzipped and unbuttoned shorts and pants, if you don't want to go and buy maternity clothes right away.
I'd would recommend going to the maternity store, Motherhood first. I had a great experience there, they measure me, helped me pick out clothes and sizes in those clothes that would work for me. I have tried maternity clothing from department store, such as Target, but until like professionally made maternity clothing, these just have alot of extra material near your belly area, so it doesn't fit right unless you have a definite bump.
Put a rubber band around the button! Can add on some extra time for your pants. I have also seen suggestions for belly bands (I haven't used those though).
Im 12 weeks and havent bought any yet. You also may be able to just go a size up too.
I am in the same situation as you! I am not quite 6 weeks and I have a bloat belly so a lot of my pants are uncomfortable already. I am getting by with my bigger pants, and leggings with long shirts. I really don't want to buy maternity clothes until I absolutely have to and even then, I don't want to buy much. But it is up to you!

Do what makes you feel comfortable. We already have to adjust to being bloated, not sleeping, nausea, headaches, etc with pregnancy...shouldn't we at least feel comfortable in our clothes. That should give us some comfort With my first, I didn't start buying maternity clothes until I was about 6 months, only because my regular clothes still fit ok. But once I felt uncomfortable, I bought maternity clothes. This time around, I feel soooo bloated, I might have to start getting clothes by the time I reach 4 months.

Maternity pants aren't going to fit you for a LONG time. Depending on how you're dressing, I would say start wearing stretchier pants. If you have to dress up for work, maybe buy one or two pairs of pants that are in a size larger than your normal size, and you should be able to wear them for a month or two. You're bloated... my pants are tight, too... but that's not going to hold up maternity pants!
You can also do the old close your pants with a hair tie trick, just make sure to buy long tanks/shirts to wear over the top.
