Socks without grips

I took DD to Stride Rite yesterday to get a pair of sneakers. They told me that they recommend socks without grips when wearing shoes. They sold them there, but I thought they were a bit overpriced. Has anyone found them anywhere else? The ones I've always bought for her at Old Navy have the grips on the bottoms.
