I'm starting to pick up some items for my hospital bag and was wondering what underwear is best after delivery. Especially in the case of a c-section is it best to have underwear that goes over or under the incision
They came just above the c incision. However I really didn't use them until a few days after I came home. For the first week or so I just used the disposalable mesh underwear the hospital provides

. This is what I needed to know! For now we are still planning a vaginal delivery, but being that I'm height risk there is still a big chance of c-section.

I loved the mesh undies the hospital provided for the first few days after my csection. Once we got home, I wore bikini style, but bought them 2 sizes too big. They weren't attractive, but it gave plenty of room above my incision. For me they got stained so much, it's not like I would have wanted to keep them anyway.
I also had a c-section, but didn't care for bikini underwear post-partum. At the hospital, I used the hospital-provided mesh ones. Once I was home, I liked the Hanes ones, french cut I think. They came up over the incision and it felt better to me to have the incision area covered. Totally personal preference though. Buy a couple pairs of each and see what works for you. My fave undies are VS, but I went with the cheap Hanes post-partum in case they got messed up and stained (they really didn't though) and because I was wearing a bigger size then. I'll do the same this time around.

This was going to be my answer. Last time I went to Walmart and bought the cheapest underwear, one size up. Cheap and a bigger size and then you can go back to your cute ones.
I hated those mesh undies. HATED THEM. At over 200 pounds at delivery it was like stuffing a bloody sausage into a very teeny net. It was horrible and not comfortable.
A couple friends of mine suggested actual depends instead of underwear and I'm thinking about it for the first week or so. It sure as hell would save on some messes. =/
In the hospital I wore just cheapy hanes or fruit of the looms with the second baby.
I really would have a couple of different weight robes ( depending if your room is hot or cold) I used the hospital underwear literally untill I healed two months later ( just hnd wash and they will last untill DH makes you throw them out) maybe a nursing bra but I just let the girls hang out.

Re: 2nd time Mom's what underwear is best post pregnancy?
I have had two cs and both times have preferred these: https://www.hanes.com/clothing/women/panties---shapewear/bikinis/hanes-womens-seamless-bikini-panties
