Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

My DS is now a picky eater...advice, please!

So up until he was 19mo old he was a great eater - would eat anything and everything but now his taste buds are changing, i guess, and only eats cheese, yogurt, milk, eggs and pasta ...SOMETIMES he'll eat oatmeal, chicken...etc. but def. no veggies ugh....my DH says "well if he doesn't eat what we give him then he won't eat"...whereas my instinct is to make him something else so he can eat....is it too young to do what my DH says? I hope this is just a phase he's going through.

  • My DD is younger, but she's starting to be picky too. I keep offering the same veggies and fruits over and over along with a few other choices. It's annoying to see the food being thrown, but I keep trying.

I read that it takes a while for them to accept new food. She used to hate bananas, but now loves them. I don't want to end up cooking two different sets of meals. I'm hoping one day she'll eat everything we're having.

  • My DD is a very picky eater too...my DH feels like yours does that if she doesnt eat what shes given then she will just have to deal. But it stresses me too. All she eats is eggs, cheese, fruit and toast/eggo's.

  • My pedi told me that they will not over eat or under eat and if they hardly eat for a few days its fine. About a month ago one of my girls was not eating and I decided to give her a plate and fork and she started eating, now she has to have a plate and silverware at every meal. Maybe your LO wants a little more independence?
