SS (11yo) just started asking me about if we would know on the ultrasound if the baby was a hermaphrodite. Then he wanted to know if a hermaphrodite would have a boy or a girl name or if you could choose. This then led to conversations with DD (9yo) about what a hermaphrodite was and how twins happen....
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love

New Beginnings: Our Journey into Parenthood (Blog)
Can I just say good for your for having that conversation! I have a friend who is so freaked out about anything sex related that she denied her 13 year old and her 12 year old the right to sex ed two years in a row and she goes all kinds of wonky when they ask her anything. Sex has never made me uncomfortable, like so not uncomfortable that I get the strangest questions from family and friends since they know that I'm the one to talk to about it, and I can't understand how she can react like that.
DH and I strive to be very open with our children. We answer whatever questions they have. We figure that if they have questions they're going to get the answer somewhere. We'd rather they get it from us.
