I am 7 days PP after an unplanned c/s. Over all I think I am healing really well and alot quicker then I thought. I have to keep forcing myself to slow down. I'm wondering how long before I can drive. I know because of seat belts and accidents and all I'm supposed to wait... but how long?
Re: When can I drive?
I was told to wait two weeks or whenever I stopped taking the Vicodin, whichever was later. I was also told that I needed to be able to slam on the brake without having pain.
The OB who did my first two c/s said I was fine to drive as soon as I felt able, as long as I was off the heavy drugs. I was off the drugs a week out, but it was around the 2 week mark that I needed to drive anywhere.
The OB who did my last c/s said 2 weeks.

You can drive when you are off narcotic pain medications, able to push the brake hard if needed and able to look over your shoulder comfortably. There is no "correct" number of days.
I was able to drive when I got home from the hospital (5 days PP). Of course, I wasn't taking any pain meds and felt really good........
I was told 2 weeks.
I was feeling fine and driving at 12 days pp with ds. I will have to drive my son to school next Monday which will be 2 weeks. I plan on seeing how I feel this w/e and taking a short drive.
This exactly. I felt fine to drive, but I didn't per doctors orders. Probably a good idea in case I had a knee jerk reaction or something that would have affected the incision area.
