Bed-sharing vs. crib for naps...

While I am not opposed to bed-sharing, we just originally planned on having LO in the crib, since we both thrash around in our sleep, and were afraid of squishing him. While he sleeps fine at night in the crib and goes down ok, I started to take him into bed for the last stretch because he either wouldn't fall back asleep right away in the crip at 3 in the morning or I just got sick of going back and forth. Lo and behold... we are now doing 50/50 bed-sharing and crib-ing ; )

The only real problem is that we have a queen and DH doesn't like sharing the bed in terms of space (horizontal baby!) - and DH doesn't sleep as well (me neither, I think!) Also, now that LO can army crawl/scoot, I am afraid he is going to fall off when he's in there for naps. I barricade it with pillows but I know one day that won't be enough.

So this is a 2-part question:

1) How do I try to get him to nap in his crib?
I don't mind taking him into bed in the early morning but I have a REALLY hard time getting him to nap in his crib. The only way he will nap is if I rock him in my bed (with my body, which rocks the bed, yeah, it's weird) - or if I ergo/carry him or in the car. My babysitter can rock him in the glider chair and put him down in the crib and yet somehow, I can't! He seems to actually be even more wakeful when I try, and believe me, I've really tried :( My Mom can't either and DH used to be able to when he was a squish and now can't either. He is probably starting to prefer the bed.

2) If napping in the crib isn't going to happen...
What kind of barricade/cagey things do I need to buy (and where to buy them?) in order to make the bedsharing safe? We just sleep on a boxspring and mattress combo but I doubt he'll want to put the mattress on the floor.
