Someone or something must have been watching over me this afternoon...
On my way home from a pedicure and grabbing lunch, some a-hole decided it would be cool to run a red light at the intersection I was driving through, turned and cut right in front of me - my first reaction was to lay into the horn and what did he do? He slammed on his brakes... This caused me to have to slam on my brakes and swerve... luckily I didn't swerve to the right as there was a lot of traffic traveling with me - so I drove into the median. All I heard was this loud "pop" as I swerved back into my lane and then drove into the center turning lane where I finally came to a stop.
The idiot sped off, of course... and I sat there in my Sante Fe wondering WTF just happened?!? I'm ok - the only damage is to the front driver's side wheel - the tire has a massive hole in it and the rim is completely bent and misshapen. I'm still really rattled from the whole experience... you never think that's going to happen to you. I'm just glad I hit the median and not another vehicle which could have left one or more of us seriously injured or worse. I was so caught up in the moment of trying to control my vehicle that I didn't even think to get the guy's plate either, but wish that I had... what an a$$.
As I waited for roadside assistance to come, so many folks stopped to see if I was ok or needed help... two people even came back with bottles of water for me. There really are some genuinely nice people out there ![]()
With all said and done and the spare put on, I made my way back home and plan to just take it easy for the rest of the day. I'm fine...baby's fine... all I can say is that I'm feeling SUPER blessed right now.
Re: Shaken up, but feeling very lucky right now
Ughhhh I can't stand stupid drivers on the road, thinking that just because they need to be somewhere it's totally cool if they run a red light.
I'm so glad to hear you're ok and got onto the median (though the damage sucks) and didn't hit any other cars/get hit. Put your feet up, drink a cold beverage and relax tonight!
Sometimes, I'm hilarious.

Aww you poor thing! You didn't hit your belly or anything? Are you going to call your OB? I'd just be nervous being as PG as you are hun... you may want to head to L&D just to be safe!
I'm so sorry you had to deal with all that this morning

Thank you
I just woke up after a nice lengthy nap - and am feeling much better now...nerves are back in check.
Unfortunately, no traffic cam at that intersection and nobody was able to get the guy's plate. I'm just glad that nobody was injured.

I doubt it
The street I was on is very quiet, so to speak, no houses facing the road at all... and the intersection where it happened is typically not a busy one either.

This! How scary. What a terrible situation to have been in. I'm glad you are ok, but I'd want to get checked out just to make sure the baby is ok. (hugs)
Did you have you car seat installed already? If so, you should read the manual bc it may need replacing. Insurance would cover it though.
