leaking sippy cups?suggestions?

Hello All, Im just wondering if anyone has suggestions on toddler cups? DD transitioned from the sippy cup to the straw kind but the issue is all these cups say leak proof spill proof but they all have leaked. The straw one was good for awhile but then for some reason it started leaking on its own. Does anyone have any luck with a brand that is really truly leak/spill proof?

  • Nothing is really leak proof, but the Nuby brand works very well. The downside is that it's a pain to assemble.

  • I have Playtex straw ones and I've never had a problem. The Nuby ones were also good, but LO only liked the soft spout straws in that brand so I had to give up because she chewed through them.
  • I've found the straw cups we've tried have all leaked. DS mostly uses the Playtex sippy cups. They don't leak for us.

  • Which straw kind do you have?  We have munchkin and playtex ones with straws and they both leak.  Have you had them for a long time?  I think I've just come to the conclusion that sippy cups don't last that long because kids chew the heck out of them.  We just bought playtex sippy cups with the hard spouts.  So far they don't leak.  I'm hoping they last longer because the tip is hard plastic.  All our others were soft and the kids chewed them up.

  • I have yet to find a cup that doesn't leak.  We had no luck with the Playtex ones.  She uses those at the sitter and for water at home.  For milk, we've had decent luck with the Tommee Tippee ones.  They are a pain to assemble, as there are several parts, but they don't leak as much as the others we've tried.

We have a Nuby one, and that one works pretty well, as long as it stays upright.

  • I have the playtex kind for both. Idk why the straw started leaking...it just seemed like there was pressure in it that was causing the fluid to come out of the straw on its own. Im going to go to bru today and see if i cant find  better one. thanks!

  • All the straw kind seem to leak from the actual straw!  They are so messy.  We just let LO have water in the house and other fluids at the table.  Non-spill valves have been shown to be terrible for speech development anyhow, so we just take them out.  I really like those Gerber cups that have a rim to help them learn to drink from a regular cup.  They fit in the side pocket of our bag and as long as you don't dump it upside down, don't leak everywhere in the bag.  He does really well drinking from them and seems less likely to "sprinkle" everything in sight with them like he does with other cups. :)  Again, water only in the house for that reason.

  • I've only found the Nuby one with the weird figure 8 type silicone straw insert. Notthe nuby with the round insert, if that makes sense.
