Unexpected bedrest

We've been having a "text book" pregnancy so far but this past week at work was killer. On Wednesday I was all over the place for work so by the end of the day I had a ton of pressure really low in my pelvis (sorry if TMI). I ended up calling my doc because I hadn't had anything like it before. We were told to go to labor & delivery and get checked out. The pressure I was feeling ended up being contractions (false labor thankfully). We spent the night and were able to get them to stop fully by 4am. We had to follow up with our doc yesterday.

We thought she was going to return me to work but the more we talked to more she wasn't comfortable with me returning to work until I'm at 36 weeks at the earliest. Although, it almost sounded like she wants me off until 37 weeks so bed rest may not end until Little Man is considered "full term".

I am kind of relieved because when I'm distracted I don't always feel what is going on. I was kind of worried that I would have contractions at work and not realize it. My husband was pretty relieved too so he could help me relax and make sure our little one keeps cooking. It's kind of scary but I'm glad I have my DH with me to get through this.

Re: Unexpected bedrest

  • Sounds scary but glad the contractions stopped and it sounds like its not the worst thing in the world that you're on bed rest. Hope you can keep that baby baking!

  • Glad they were able to stop contractions. Rest and drink lots of water keep that baby cooking.

  • We are definitely doing everything we can to keep the Little Man cooking. At first bedrest kind of freaked me out but it has also reassured me that I'll get to stay still and help keep our Little One safe. My husband has been so supportive through all of this and has really made this as comfortable as it can be. Plus, I'd rather be on bedrest at home than in the hospital. We're keeping our eye on the prize (37 weeks).
