Total breakdown

DH worked all day.  Came home for a bit and we noticed our thermostat was kinda creeping up.

Long story short............. it's 80 degrees in my house.  The AC is broken.  DH is at a bar with his friends.  I'm at home dripping sweat.  I'm itchy.  I've been burping for 8.5 hours straight.  I'm tired, but can't lay down because the food I ate at 430pm just comes up.  It literally just comes up without warning, and I choke on it.  I've taken Tums, they don't do shiit.  I'm just sitting here crying, which is adding a headache to the equation.  It's so pathetic.

I don't even know why I'm posting this here.  I just don't think I've ever been so miserable before.  What the hell am I going to do tomorrow when it's nearly 90 degrees outside?

Re: Total breakdown

  • I am so sorry! I can definitely relate with the uncomfortableness and not being able to lay down because of reflux. Not that you are asking for suggestions, but maybe try a cool shower? Sometimes I like to take a washcloth and run it under the coldest water and use it as a compress to cool down. And when Tums don't work I either suck on ice or popsicles -- it seems to help but I don't know why. Hang in there -- hope you are able to train some fans on you and cool down!!!

Oh, suggestions are certainly welcome and appreciated!!!  I think I might try a cool shower, and I'll grab a cup of ice to suck on. I haven't tried that.  I don't eat after 430pm anymore and that seemed to help a little, but I get soooo hungry :/.

The reflux is actually a bigger issue than the broken AC.  I have had trouble sleeping for the past 5 weeks because of it, but man, the last 2 weeks I barely get three hours of sleep.  Laying there for hours is awful.  Thank you so much for your reply!

  • Call DH and have him bring you some Zantac. It will help! Pepcid and tums didn't work for me but the Zantac is awesome!

I wish.  Based on the jumbled text the jackazz just sent me, he won't be driving anywhere :)

Zantac isn't on my approved list for some reason, but I've noticed a lot of ladies take it.  Should it only be taken a couple times a week?  Or can I take it every night?

  • I am so dumb. I was just wishing that DH was sober so I could get to the pharmacy. Derrrrrr.......I am putting on clothes and driving my butt to the pharmacy for some Zantac. My brain cells are dropping like flies!

  • If my DH was out at the bar at night while this late into the pregnancy I'd be having a total break down too!

Maybe check with your doctor to see why Zantac isn't on your approved list.

  • Get your hair wet when you take that shower. I was ready to kill Dh yesterday by the time he got home because it was 83 in our house. The wet hair helped tons. A wet towel lying on me doesn't hurt either. I hope you feel better soon.

  • I'm pretty sure Zantac will help you. It's a class B drug so it is safe to take right now. And sucking on ice (or a popsicle) really will cool you down. If done after a shower, you'll feel more yourself very quickly. Sorry for your rough evening. I hope it gets better for you. (And what is your DH doing getting drunk when you're so close to the end? What would he do if you went into labor?)

  • OH no!!  I am so sorry to hear you are going through this!  There is nothing worse than broken a/c!!  I hope you can get someone out there to repair it soon!!  A couple of times when ours has been broken, it was cheaper for us to just go spend the night at a hotel than to do a weekend service call... hope you cool off soon!!

  • First of all, drink milk during an episode, not water or ice. Water perpetuates heartburn or reflux.
Second of all, Zantac 150 twice a day! These should both help immensely with the reflux.
Sorry that your AC broke... cold shower or compress definitely!

  • I know this is late, but I hope the Zantac helped. I use TUMS when the reflux is greater than the Zantac/Tagament whichever I have at home, but I can't use them exclusively.

If you can't get cool can you go out during the day? Get a hotel for the night? I am sorry your air is broken this late in the game.  Feel better!
