They encourage you to change them, as many people could potentially have a copy; old owners, realtors, handy men, etc. We never did though. Just never got around to it, and don't see a point now
We never changed the locks. Even though they're friendly, I think the two pit bulls that bark out the front window are deterrent enough for anyone who would think about coming into our house..
We were going to, but I actually became friends with the former owners. We knew there were renters in the house before we bought it and the renters had to get evicted. We moved during Christmas and things were crazy...so I just straight up asked the former owners if the locks had been changed. They told me they had the locks changed after the police evicted the renters and we had the only copy of the keys that were the ones the realtor had. So we never changed them.
I'm a SS. We didn't change the locks when we moved in. However, we had a "friend" stay with us for awhile, and she was not happy when she left. As soon as she was gone, we got the locks changed because I didn't trust that she gave us back all copies of the keys that she had.

The previous owners are now our neighbors. When her father passed away they moved into his home. The house was in foreclosure due to her husband getting hurt at work. This house sat empty for about three years. We just felt more comfortable having new locks.
Our house was a FHA foreclosure and they told us that every FHA in the country has the same lock. They didn't even give us keys. Our realtor let us in and we changed the locks then
Not just for security issues, I doubt the really old couple was going to go in our house, but they had like 5 different keys for the outside doors. That was way too confusing. We had a locksmith switch all of our outside doors over to one key.
We did end up changing the locks, but not until we'd been in the house for about 6 years. Then it was only because we were replacing the old doors with new energy efficient, more attractive, doors. It never really occurred to us that it would be a security risk. The house is in a nice neighborhood in a really safe small town, and the previous owners were a really sweet older couple.

We did but that was because our doors have windows that could have been busted and easily broken in. We changed it to double sided dead bolts that need a key to open if locked. We did not change the shed or garage (attached but can't access the house from the garage).

We did, but not right away and only because we got new door hardware (handles w/locks). In our area and with the house we bought I wasn't worried about it.

Pretty much this, except that we did the work ourselves.
A few days after our escrow closed, some stuff I had brought over was moved around. I had the key that had been in the lockbox, so I knew it wasn't a random realtor. I went out that day and bought new locks.

Re: CP: for Homeowners
When we bought our house, we eventually changed the locks. However, I don't remember doing it right away. Maybe like 4 months later?
We didn't change the garage door opener. The previous owner left us one, but I don't know if there were more at some point that someone has.
