Re: (Untitled)

  • DS has puked a time or two before bed when he got himself all worked up (i.e, crying, doing this screeching scream thing) but has never puked when he's just laying down but doesn't actually want to go to bed.

I have heard of kids putting their hands down their throats to gag for attention, and ultimately puke. I researched very briefly when it appeared that DS was doing this. (He stopped without actually puking, thankfully) I was told that if I see the fingers/hands going in the mouth to remove them, tell him "no" and leave it at that with no "extra" attention.

If it gets to the puking stage, change his clothes and sheets and bathe him if necessary but say very little to him. No smiling, cooing or otherwise babying him as if he were sick. Then, when he's clean, return him to bed, again, saying very little whatsoever.

I'd also make sure to talk to his pedi about the possibility of acid reflux. He may not be puking on purpose, but if he's laying down... something could be getting irritated. That would explain the no fever or otherwise sickly symptoms.

    Good luck.
