Babies: 0 - 3 Months

how long between night feedings?

My baby is almost eight weeks. Her weight has been fine. Tonight I fed her around nine and then at about 430, about seven hours later, she's still sleeping and hadn't ate. Do I need to worry about this? I ended up feeding her around 430 while she was still pretty much asleep because I was kind of worried. Do I just let her sleep until she wakes up to eat or do I need to wake her up at a certain length of time to feed? If wake her up to feed, after How many hours would that be? Just wondering for future times.
Thanks!

Re: how long between night feedings?

  • I believe at this point you can let LO sleep and feed whenever she wakes up. My LO is younger, but she sleeps 5 hrs then wakes to feed, then 2-3 hours then feeds, and another 2 hours then's up for the day (obviously this is average, she's not on that perfect of a schedule yet).

  • Let her sleep!

I've done the same thing though, and woken him up to feed him because I worried he was sleeping too long. So even though that's my advice, I totally understand!

  • You got 7 hours in between! I am jealous :)

I would let her sleep - she will let you know wen she is hungry

  • Yup just let her be next time. At this stage as long as she's gaining well and has enough wet/dirty diapers then you are good to go. My LO is 10 weeks and has been going from 7:30/8:30 to about 4 this past week. I also heard that when they reach past 12 lbs they are able to sleep better at night.
  • Id think if she was hungry she would wake up.  So I say let her sleep!
  • Thank you! I also figured she could sleep and would wake up if she was hungry but I needed some reassurance so thank you!
