Have you tried bribing him with snacks when he first gets in? It might be easier when you're out, bc there's a ton more stuff to look at. Or wait until he gets sleepy/wants to be carried.
We have a baby backpack/kid leash, and it's really good, too. I would go out and get one of those, and use it until he's tired of walking. hth
I don't know that there's any magic trick really. Most kids go through a "wearing strike" to some degree once they walk but usually come around. I'd guess that once he is in an environment like the game where there's lots to see, he will be fine. I'd also think of it like you would a stroller - sometimes we need our kids to be contained in a stroller or carrier because it's not safe for them not to be, even if they protest.
