DH and I have been watching for signs that DD is ready to pee/poop and feel like it's a good time to start introducing the potty. Can anyone recommend a good potty. We are looking for something small and easy to clean. DD likes to squat when she goes - are there any potties that would allow her to do this rather than sit? TIA

You might want to check out the Jahgoo Potty. It is smaller than the average potty chair. The seat and bowl part can separate, so I imagine it would be easy to clean. We have one, but DD hasn't actually used it yet (waiting for her to be able to sit up a little better first).
I was given a small potty, but personally I would rather just get the toilet seat potty seat. I feel like my DS is more likely to imitate mommy and daddy and the best way to do that is to train him on the real thing as much as possible. I plan on getting a cute step stool for him to climb up to the potty on. I think it is best to be involved in potty training as much as possible - teach your child the sign for toilet or bathroom, go with them, say "Great job!" when they are done, celebrate when they are fully potty trained, etc. Too many parents treat it as just another milestone to accomplish before they start Kindergarten, but really it should be a big deal! It is a huge leap of independence! Those diaper changes you thought were so boring will become treasured memories, especially since you are planning on starting at a rather young age. Good luck!
We love the Baby Bjorn potty (at Target) and also bought a new toilet seat for her bathroom that has a child sized seat attached to it, we bought it at Home Depot for about $50 and love it. DD is potty trained and likes to go on both.
We have the bambino mio potty and find its nice and small, and I agree the squatting position is better for pooping. The baby bjorn little potty has been discontinued so it will be hard to find one of those.
