Pregnant after IF

So I got admitted...(long)

Sorry I have been MIA (again) for the past few days...DH and I have been in such a whirlwind and my head is finally beginning to stop spinning.

So I think some of you know that I was put on modified bedrest at home after our A/S at the beginning of August.  The girls were doing great, but my cervix was measuring 1.5cm with slight funneling.  I got sent home right away, was told to minimize movement, and start Prometrium.  I was allowed to work from home, so that helped keep me sane.

On Tuesday I went in to get my cervix re-checked after 3 weeks of bed rest and Prometrium.  I could immediately tell on the u/s that things didn't look right.  My cervix measured 0.33cm, and the tech said I would more than likely be admitted (cue the tears).  We met with the MFM and she said that my cervix was so small that they weren't even sure if there was anything to measure.  I got sent to L&D triage.  They monitored me for contractions (there were none, thankfully), but I was unfortunately 1cm dilated. (And holy shnikeys did that hurt!!)

So of course I was admitted.  Continuing the progesterone, and I got a pessary.  A cerclage is out of the question since Baby A's amniotic sac is right there at the opening of my cervix and it's too risky.  It's absolutely terrifying (especially when they review all the possible scenarios), but I am at a great hospital that has a level 3 NICU.  Our friends and family have been great, and I've already had a lot of visitors.  The nights and early mornings are lonely, but it's getting better.  DH is a mess, but is being strong for me.  I miss him and our dog terribly, but am trying to focus on doing what is best for our girls so we can hopefully take them home some day.

After 5 TI Clomid cycles, 5 IUIs, and 2 IVFs we finally got our BFP!
Beta#1 (12dp3dt)= 353, Beta#2 (15dp3dt)= 1466, Beta#3 (22dp3dt)= 14,139, First u/s: TWINS!!
After 10 weeks of bedrest, our two little ladies joined us at 28w6d

oh boy, that is scary! i hope that things just stay stable, thank goodness you aren't having any contractions.

at 27w my cervix measured .6 cm, and then went back up over 1 cm after strict bed rest. i hope you get a little more cervix back so that you have a little peace of mind. keep us posted, my fingers are crossed!

also- my blog starts when i was 22w1d and placed on bed rest with my twins if you want to follow my experience. i am guessing you have lots of time on your hands now...

I'm sure the Dr's would have thought of this and it's a stupid question, but isn't there something they can do to close up the cervix?  I thought they did stuff like that when it was too early.  I'm praying everything is ok and I'm sorry that you have to deal with this.

Are you thinking of a cerclage?  That is not an option for me since I have so little cervix left and Baby A's amniotic sac is right at the opening.  It is way too risky because it could introduce infection (causing labor) or the could puncture the sac making my water break.  The only thing they could really do besides the bedrest and progesterone was the pessary.  I had never heard of it before, but it's supposed to take some of the pressure off of my cervix.

    Thank you for your prayers!
